There's an adapter, but even that still locks to run only at 50 Hz? Or how is it?

I really dig the design of the EUR/JPN SNES so I'd like to salvage it for playing games on it at it's proper performance.

    Thanks.

Soldering is required as I expected.

    Three questions:
    1) Where can I buy?
    2) What is One Chip?
    3) Anyone with soldering experience is capable to do the job as long as following the instructions, right? I would assume.

Better get an imported console, no?
What's the point of messing a PAL console to run NTSC if you can get one from relatively cheap?
    See?

That does make it pointless, indeed. It even comes with two controllers.

What about inserting US SNES cartridges in a JP SNES? What adapter would be suitable?

you can use a straight pass through cart or if you might be wanting to play EU games too, get a 2 cart multi-region adapter, some are better than others, I found the "fire" adapters to be most compatible (although thats just from personal testing, I know there was a Datel universal adapter that used codes iirc, which might have better compatibility but idk I haven't tried it, but the fire adapter works with everything I have tried)

Hm, say, would the known Universal Adapter on a Japanese SNES do the job of playing US SNES games? That seems like it could do the job.

yeah a universal adapter would work for US games on a JPN console, but you also have the option of getting just the pass through adapter for US >JPN games, these are a but smaller and dont need the second cart in the back like traditional universal adapters, plus compatibility should be 100%

or as mentioned in that page, you can just pop the board out and put it in the JPN game shell (or pop it in with no case, just be sure you insert it the correct way or you will blow your fuse)

That's a deal. SNES JP + Universal Adapter (will see if I snipe a deal when one pops up).

I just sent the seller an offer so hopefully he accepts it (£5 less, though I did try £10-15 less too and didn't work lol).

I quite like the switchless region mod plus everdrive combo.

I can't remember it's been years since I did it. I know the premodded ones are around £60 on ebay. The SNES everdrives are not cheap these days though.

I've been told that there's an eBay seller that installs the kit and return shipping all for £30 (to send him should be £4, so that's £34 overall), but then there's that another eBay seller is selling an SFC + 2 Controllers for less than that.. options.

One thing that stands out, the US carts don't fit in a EUR/JPN SNES so if you don't want to butcher the "mouth" of SNES, a Universal Adapter is the next best thing.

I dont need that. The 50hz is fine with me. It doesn't bother me at all.

Some PAL SNES games were optimized, but dunno if a list of such exists somewhere.

One of the worst ports was SONIC for the PAL SEGA MD.

And fast-forwarding to the PS1 era, Crash Bandicoot PAL version was actually superior.

    It's very hit and miss.

I already know that. It doesn't matter to me. A long time ago.. Youtube doesn't exists so I cannot tell the difference but I noticed the different this time. Very interesting however it doesn't affect me at all. I am staying at 50hz. Its fine to me. ^_^
