Having said all that, is the correct response therefore to offer support to the dev or to bombard them with enough negativity that they then disappear? I mean, I already know the answer as this is Temp afterall, but I was kinda pleasantly surprised that this thread started out quite positive.

They bring up valid points on first skim through, but I know where I want to go with this. As long as I have an attainable goal I should be able to maintain motivation

Damn, I missed that part. An existing emulator or one you're yet to write?

My own.

In that case, any particular reason you chose SNES classic instead of NES classic as an interface?
It was the system I had at the time. I can examine the timings of animations on a other monitor and get them to feel right after enough refinement.

I will say, though, that the NES Classic nro will be first to be avaliable. Less work from an emulation stand point versues the more complex SNES.

I don't believe I ever called this a port. Others have assumed it was. A port implies that I have the original code. :-P

And yep. You're right. I felt to approach this differently than normal working backwards.
Flamy response would be - then show us the code, you took all other assents from Nintendo, so why not the code.. ;)

But in the interest of not always pulling high outrage bait - you probably know what you are talking about here, and this is very likely not a port of the Nintendo Snes Mini interface. Its a recreation.

Just from a structural point though - if HBL doesnt get used from Atmosphere forward (because f.e. Atmosphere has its own launch interface), you will be competing with Atmosphere in a sense... If you cant establish this as a "retroarch frontend". Which has its own caviats.

Nevertheless - If you get to the point, where you can launch individual games from this interface, many people will be interested in it (about 30% from a "impress your friends" standpoint.. ;) ). So even from my perspective this is a neat project.

Just maybe say something, the next time people start thinking, that this will give them N64 emulation capabilities, "and even could be faster than on the SNES mini" (the press right to select part?) ... please.. ;) Turns out, that when someone else tells them as much, they can get very angry... (at least at me, so I guess - my personality also plays a part in this.)

Can't wait to play Rockman & Forte SFC (old translation was bad) with a new English translation on it. Yes, there is a new English translation in private.

Why don't you just keep your posts concise and to the point, why the need for convoluted soap box speaches, full of mediocre analogy?

You could have simply said "Don't get hyped guys, this is just a GUI frontend and does nothing else"; could you not? I mean if I were to paraphrase your entire contribution in this thread that would literally be the result.

And you wouldn't have been wrong, but you may have rubbed alot less people up the wrong way.

You've claimed in the past to have some sort of sociological education no? So you would have to be well aware of the way social values and norms work in any viable discourse, people do not like condescending, patronising statements and by knowingly using conflict speech you must be fully aware of the inflammatory nature of your posts.

So why do you do it?

I'm confused, is this a user-created menu system, or is it a full patched SNES Classic FW image?
I believe this is just user interface only. A created GUI by OP. (More like a homebrew launcher but without the homebrew itself.) No news yet as to what OP is currently working/focused on. If he is working on an emulator or something.

tbh i dont see a point in this, basicaly a gui screen to pick your games... i rather use an emulator that uns all games fullspeed like snes9x and not have an interface than just having a crappy emulator that runs some games but has an interface imo.

That's why the best would be if this ends up as a frontend for Libretro cores or even a RetroArch theme.
I find this very good looking but don't know why he would want to include his own emulator.

if like he says he is gonna make his own emulator it will take years befoe you get fullspeed and fullcompatibility on all titles, not to meantion its not needed since there are countless emulators done and ready to port for ages, the dynarec alone will take him months lol.

Yeah he's free to do whatever he wants but I don't consider his "plan" a good idea as well.
The frontend at least looks beautiful so let's wait for him to put it on github. Surely someone will be able to use it for existing emulators.

this is awesome man! i assume with this you can (eventually) replace the games bundled inside already with other games/ROMs from the outside?

i love the UI so much!
