These are all the websites that I have found that talk about smb. (there were more but I want to limit it to only four)

http://www.samba.org/cifs/docs/what-is-smb.html
http://code.google.com/p/mplayer-ce/wiki/Configs

I'm wondering how to set it up with wad manager 1.5 gui, and also how to get wad manager gui to show only whats inside the wad folder when it boots up. I've spent 5 hours trying to get this to work, but I failed at making any real progress. I've turn on sharing, fixed the problem with the lan disk, edited the conf file, and used USB2.0 installation as the IOS60 as a base to install as IOS202. I don't know what else to do. Also do you use the wii's ip or your pc's or a seperate one all together? Anybody?

an smb share is simpy a shared folder from a computer, (although im sure you know that)
if for instance my pc had the computer name bob and bobs ip address is 192.168.1.1 and on bob I shared a folder called apps then to access this share from any other computer on my network I would go to \\192.168.1.1\apps this would take me to the shared folder in your case it would be the pc's ip address. what do you have in the conf file?

Yes, I know its a file on my computer, I guess I just stated something wrong.
I'm not too sure how to set the file up exactly. But, anyways here's the conf file example:

#Max 5 samba shares (review menu.conf to add more samba browsing)
#no ip or no share means samba disabled
#It's important use quotes (") on shares with blank spaces, see example 2

#Samba share1 (smb1:/)
ip1=192.168.0.1
share1=films
user1=
pass1=

#Samba share2 (smb2:/)
ip2=192.168.0.1
share2="My movies"
user2=
pass2=

#Samba share3 (smb3:/)
ip3=
share3=
user3=
pass3=

#Samba share4 (smb4:/)
ip4=
share4=
user4=
pass4=

#Samba share3 (smb5:/)
ip5=
share5=
user5=
pass5=

Not too sure which one to use. But this one looks like it's only for Mplayer.
Here's example #2:

# MPlayerWii configuration file
# This file needs to be in the ROOT FOLDER of your SD card!

# Set the following setting to 1 to enable the PAL Widescreen
# ratio fix
palwsfix = 0

# This command adds a new streaming entry in the main menu
stream = http://ronwarez.com:8000/

# Sample MP3 file on a HTTP server
stream = http://ronwarez.com/~ron/test.mp3

# Sample MMS stream
stream = http://vipnrj.yacast.net/nrj_webtv03

# Here is a SMB share entry
# Since SMB browsing isn't yet implemented, you have to append the
# name of a file present on the share

# For example, this entry will connect on the machine at
# 192.168.69.131 as the user "user" with the password "password"
# on the share called "write" and will play the file "a.avi"

# The format is:
# smb://[user]:[password]@[ip address]/[folder]/[file]

#stream = smb://user:P[email protected]/write/a.avi

# If you don't specify a username and password, it will connect
# as the Guest user
stream = smb://192.168.69.131/write/a.avi

# End of file

here's what my wad manager gui config file looks like for my smb share

and you can't get it to only show what's in the wad folder cause it's based on wad manager 1.5folder mod I think
