    Hi,

Usually what we want for the Wii is that it is able to stream contents from network to it. But I want a homebrew apps to create SMB Server for Wii, much like FTPii but it's SMB. Since I connect my eHDD to the Wii, it also contains many of my music. I just want to let my music player connect to a network share to play music but not bothering disconnecting the HDD, then bring the HDD back to my PC, then reconnect it, it's a pretty much time.

Why not just use ftp? the overhead is alot less and you should get a higher sustainable speed than smb.

Because FTP can't be used for streaming AFAIK. He'd have to DL the file to his computer with an FTP client, then play it in his media player.

With SMB, he can map the share to a drive letter on his PC, and all regular software can use the drive as if it were actually attached to the PC. The only noticeable difference will be network lag for large files.

The only way I can think of is a Linux install. Don't know how usable it will be with the Wii's shitty NIC though.

that is very odd as I loaded up wiixplorer and was able to stream my mp3's just fine! As a side note the streaming was actually like this

NAS (SMB) -> Wii (FTP) -> Laptop

In short I was streaming from the wii via ftp which in turn was streaming from a smb mount in wiixplorer.
