why should I make my emunand before restoring my sysnand?
That way, everything that's currently on your sysNAND is transferred to your emuNAND, since the emuNAND is meant to be dirty anyway.

also wouldn't the method I used to initially hack my switch in turn dirty my sysnand? I mean I had to hack my switch to setup a nand backup in the first place?
Nothing you did in Hekate when you first hacked your Switch affected your NAND, so your sysNAND wasn't immediately made dirty. If you did homebrew, NSP-installation, etc. before making a NAND backup, then the NAND backup is dirty.

I've made a emunand but I can't figure out where to put my backed up Nintendo folder on the sd card? emummc/raw1/Nintendo?? that's what the structure is now?

Copy the contents of the Nintendo folder into emummc/RAW1/Nintendo

Are you using signature patches? Do they work on the sysNAND?

Add the appropriate signature patches, just in case.
I installed them and still nothing... I don't know what's wrong I even tried installing a new game on emunand and it fails with Goldleaf.... giving the error invalid path.

ok it seems now I can install new nsp, but my old Nintendo folder and it's games still do not function.
Different patches affect different kinds of NSP-installed games. Remove your signature patches and install the Kosmos patches.

not sure what this means

I've overwritten any patches I had before with the Kosmo patches I just got which now I can install games, which patches do I remove to make my old games work?

ok my bad I'll do that now

also something odd is going on some of my old games are launching just fine...but most aren't? confusing
FS patches and ES patches will affect different kinds of game backups, and Kosmos/Hekate require different patches than vanilla Atmosphere.

Did you follow my instructions? Is the problem still occurring?

If you're using Kosmos, Hekate should already come with FS patches, which is why you don't want to add them.
I think I somehow corrupted the games I had in my Nintendo folder that I tried to launch before I had the correct sigpatches.

Every game I didn't try to launch during that period works right now just fine, and I can install new nsp.

am I crazy?

I have both fs and es patches in place.
