Hacking slowdown an issue with ewin2?

I just ordered an ewin2, and I'm planning on using a Toshiba 512MB SD card with it. As I recall, slowdown was an issue with cards that used these memorycards. Is that still an issue, and if it is, how/where is it most noticable?

I still got my ewin2 rotting away here, it has many slowdown, even in castlevania intro movie
