I've been pondering this for a very long time, but wasn't sure if it was even possible. But seeing the DS-X announcement about the on-board FPGA, made me a little more confident on my idea. Well any way I was thinking if a Slot-2 cart was made with a CPU and RAM to give the DS more processing power and memory. Kinda like the expansion pack the N64 got, but a little more complicated. Do you think it will happen, and if so what will be possible? Will Nintendo even spend the time to do such a thing, or will they just upgrade the console itself.

Neither, the DS won't recieve any hardware upgrades, even if it is possible, it's still not happening.

Euh the Opera needs a RAM pack which extends the NDS RAM, but I don't think anything else will use it...

There's a difference between a cheap RAM cart and a proper CPU+RAM upgrade.
