This is really annoying and confusing but my PS2's 2nd slot just won't read a PS2 memory card, when I plug in a PS1 card it shows up fine in the explorer but when I plug in a PS2 card nothing shows up.

What should I do to get it repaired

That... is one odd problem you've got there, really... It doesn't sound like it's hardware-related if it detects PS1 cards - perhaps the firmware is out of date or something?

Try cleaning both the ps2 slot and the memory card

Ive tried other PS2 memory cards in the 2nd slot and they don't read either. Could it be the ribbon?

Maybe it's the memory card itself but it seems like you tried more than one based on the first post.
I would say call Sony but I doubt they would help with PS2 problems.

What connector is used to connect the memory card to the motherboard

You could buy a stand with those external memory card readers?
