Search for DSCompress, it supports Gzip and plain zip although for day to day stuff I would not suggest it. Perhaps for some homebrew you do not often use or even stuff like GBA roms if you use a GBA expansion (Chuckstudios also ad some stuff with his 3 in 1 tool).

I used to have a tool to compress GBA roms. It was quite fast, the screen would stay red for a few seconds and then start the game. I wonder where I left it...

You might want to use this batchfile:

copy /b m3decompress.bin + out.gba compressed.gba
del out.gba
del in.gba
pause

I bet if you compress a trimmed ROM you wouldn't save much of anything. You're better off just trimming.
