Just wondering if a Slim PS2's USB ports will power a portable HDD. Thanks.
For what purpose?
Do you mean to access somehow via the PS2, or do you mean one of those 'power to USB' cables, for powering a USB HDD connected to another computer/device?
For use by the PS2. I just don't know if the USB ports provide enough power for a HDD.
hmmm ... what kind of external HDD? One of those dinky ones, or a large one?
Also, what software were you wanting to use it with?
A 2.5" USB powered external portable drive.
Yeah, it'll have enough juice to run one of those ...
EDIT : But what are you planning on using it for, can I ask?
Media center until I get a PS3... then just as a portable HDD (which is why I don't want a 3.5" drive).
the PS2 doesnt not have a built in media center
even the homebrew one is pretty bad at playing video's and music
on top of that reading a hard drive via usb on the ps2 is slow anyway, just wait till u get a ps3, much more easier.
