Wow, so i was playing Naruto: Path of the Ninja on my DS while i shouldve been doing hw
so anyways my mom came in and i closed it, (not turned off btw) so it was in sleep mode
but instead it started blinking and made noises like it was turning sleep mode on and off
does anyone else have this problem?

No noises for me, maybe the noises are from a rumble pack, if you have one? (just a guess)
But it's supposed to flash on and off, that's what sleep mode does. However, the r4's sleep mode is screwed up in another way- it drains battery just the same as if you were actually playing it. Note that this only happens if you are using sleep mode with r4, it won't permanently cause your ds to be this way.

For sleep mode in commercial games to work correctly, two of the pins on the DS cartridge must be connected. My guess is that your contacts got dirty, preventing the necessary connection from being made. Try cleaning them off and see if that helps any.

The same thing happens when a slot-2 user plays a DS game without actually having anything in slot-1 (for instance, if FlashMe is installed or if the user ejected the NoPass after bootup).

Yup, never leave your DS + R4 in Sleep Mode.

It'll eat your battery.

I guess you learn something new every day! I leave my DS on sleep mode a lot, occasionally for hours. I was wondering why my DS has such a short battery life.

It's happened to me only once. Thank goodness I left my DS (on accident) in sleep mode for 16 hours with a real game instead of the R4.

I somehow didn't turn off Zelda(R4) and i closed the DS. The next day I wanted to play, I dended up seeing that the sleep mode was on and the game still running.

Thank god the battery was almost maxed when I left it and that I only sleep 6h if it's not a weekend.

I don't think I have had this problem with my R4 at all. among other things, it is the sleep mode that makes the R4 (and, I would assume, other slot 1 cards) so great. I also have a G6 slot 2 and one of the things that drove me nuts (other than the fact that is was always breaking on me and even now does not work anymore) was that it did not work well in sleep mode.

I use sleep mode but mainly to shut up the DS for a few minutes (for example when watching TV and commercials go on) before I want to play again, when I don't want to play, I just save and turn it off.

I didn't know sleep mas messed up on the R4, if it doesn't conserve battery life you might as well turn the volume off in the DS and just leave it be.

It _does_ save battery life. See the GBATemp R4 review for the battery drain of an R4, it's only slightly worse than an official cart.

Wrong. That's only it RUNNING. This thread is about the sleep mode. The R4 can't implement the sleep mode correctly (I'm guessing that if it did it would reset to the main menu). When it sleeps it still drains your battery, unlike the official cart.

Yep, the R4 team worded it as "R4 is optimized to save battery life" or something along the lines of that.

They just never mentioned Sleep Mode. So... In Sleep Mode it drains more power than normal.
