So fast at doing nothing? It's great that 9.5 is still supported by the Sky3DS, but they didn't have to update their cart or anything. Nintendo simply didn't make any change that interfered with the Sky3DS' functionality.

Lolnope, they probably just haven't been able to patch it as of yet. Their R&D seems to be a bit slow. I can guarantee it'll get patched out eventually, (anyone else remember the massacre of 4.4 which nearly killed every single DS flashs cart in a single update?) but it seems 9.5 wasn't the update. It seems all they wanted to do was patch the exploit used to boot other FIRMs (from sysNAND's FIRM, ie for emuNAND) to prevent another "4.5"/"9.2" firmware from actually working again. Anyone who honestly thinks sky3DS is invulnerable is going to be in for a bad time once it gets patched. It's just like any other flash cart, DS mode or not, and it can and will end up getting patched.
