Hacking Sky3DS Not Working Out Of The Box

I recently purchased a Sky3DS blue button model, and when I put it in my 3DS, my 3DS doesn't show that it's in there. I used the most recent DiskWriter and template to write Super Smash Bros. for 3DS onto a 16 GB, 48 Mbps microSD card, and my 3DS is running firmware Ver. 9.6.0-24U. The th ingdoesn't even light up, so it doesn't look like it's getting power. I've tried holding the button down, holding the button down while inserting the card into the system, and using different microSD cards, and nothing works.

Any advice?

Even with no SD card, the blue light should come on when you insert the Sky.
