Show Number of files by highlighting them?

this somehow got disabled, not sure how, but how do I reenable windows 10 to show me how many files are highlighted instead of going into properties to count the files? it would list it at the bottom iirc.

I don't know about Win10, but on Win11 I can see the number of files selected in the bottom left corner of the window.
