Hacking Should I Update to 11.9 from 11.4 before installing CFW?

Hello:

I am modding my nephews 2DS XL for him. I've done it before so I am familiar with the process, but I've never done it on 11.4.

On the 3dshacks guide, it appears that firmware versions 11.4-11.8 require an "All Versions" method, which appears to require either a Flashcart or soldering. I do not have a flashcart and do not know how to solder. However, 11.9 only requires Frogminer, so should I just update to 11.9 and continue from there?

Does not matter, as soundhax works on 11.3 max and there is nothing which works for 11.4 and not on 11.9.
Also, you can use frogminer, which requires just one free game from eshop (thus you need to update first).

Okay great, thanks. Would you personally update to 11.9, or leave it at 11.4? Just wondering if there are any benefits to 11.9 involving game updates, etc.

You need to update to get the game from eshop. That's about it. The guide want's you to update anyway, but usually after you install the CFW. But there is no difference between 11.4 and 11.9 except the eshop access
