Im wondering if i should update the firmware on my PS3.
I don't see why not.
This isn't an essential upgrade I think so it is not mandatory. With the speed that my brothers PS3 downloads stuff, he usually waits until it is absolutely necessary.
ahh thx, might stay at my firmware for now.
Jeez, I keep saying this: If you get slow Internet while downloading updates through your PS3 then download the update from Sony on your PC, put it on a memory stick and you're good to go.
I'd update it. It fixes the annoying controller sync issue.
im currently on 3.01 should i stay at this fw?
Update to 3.15.
3.0x had the controller sync issues (Very annoying.) So it's suggested that you update.
We're putting a new system under the tree this Christmas, so I'm not familiar with the time it takes to update the firmware. What kind of time are we talking about here? I've got cable Internet with a wireless N router. Roughly how long would you estimate it to take to download and install new firmware for the system?
it takes me about 10-20mins on my ps3 to update the firmware and the highest download speed i got while downloading on my pc was about700kb/s, but normal speed is around 500kb/s. (speed is just so you know how bad my internet is lol)
Thanks, man. Does it take roughly the same amount of time to download games from PSN?
Can't really say... PSN games are all diff sizes.
I upgraded mine as soon as I bought it a week ago. I just downloaded it via a pc with fast internet and shared the update with all my friends. I'm loving my PS3. Can't see any reason not to update.
Just update it.
i experienced the controller issue before i updated.
If you have slow psn speeds, then go into your router and make the PS3 in DMZ mode so that the router gives it a strait shot instead of filtering anything.
I updated to 3.15 Saturday and I have not had any problems. Personally, I would go ahead and update.
