if you are looking for an easy to use solution with nds playback and dont care about gba, then yes, ds-x is the way to go.

why would you need ds-x?

with g6l,with the same price you get the same compatibility and gba compatiblity

if you dont care about gba support, then
get supercard rumble + superkey, you get upgraddable memory and the same compatiblity with half the price of ds-x

Well the 1GB G6 Lite comes out soon so I'd definitely get that. You'd get better battery life and obviously gba support. G6 is pretty cheap too, be interesting to see how much the 1GB version is.
