I should be getting my DS Lite in a few days, and I was wondering if I should charge it for a certain amount of time? Is it like other electronics that require a first charge of 20 hours or so? Also, can I turn it on as soon as I start charging the first time, or must it fully charge that first time?

Put it on charger then turn it on. Do the configurations and stuff and then let it charge for a good 10 hours at least. At least that what I would do. My DSlite has a really good battery time =3

You have to charge it indeed, and you can turn it on while its charging.
And if its fully charged for the first time, you need to play the battery completely out.
So that it hardly boots anymore, thats good, the salesman said.

Well, new batteries are usually charged for a certain number of hours, regardless of whether they become fully charged. I've been doing this with cellphones for years and figured the same would apply here.

However, I believe it said on Nintendo's site that I only need to charge it until it's full the first time.

    Good advice. Thanks.

When you get your DS Lite, it's already charged. I recommend that you play it until it gets completely recharged, and then just charge it again [IMG]

You don't need to do a complete discharge then recharge cycle like with older rechargeable batteries, pretty much all new electronics (including the DS) use a Lithium-Ion battery which dosen't need the complete discharge/charge.
