Im thinking about buying the R4SDHC 2.10T. Is it any good?
Will it work with my 4gb micro sdhc card?
Nah best R4 is R4i Gold
It's an R4 Clone >.< Buy a better card like an Acekard 2i, Supercard Two, Supercard DSonei, Ez-Flash Vi, or R4i Gold (from http://www.r4ids.cn)
All have active teams and a far better than that piece of crap
No. DON'T BUY R4 CLONES!
The R4 team ONLY made the "R4". Anything with an i, SDHC, Upgrade, or anything else is not an official R4. Most clones have shitty support or no updates, so you do NOT want a clone.
Note that the prices given are from chinese shops.
If you order from a shop in another country it's more expensive.
[*]The original R4.
NOT "R4-III Upgrade", NOT "R4-SDHC", NOT "R4i NDSLL", NOT "R4 Red", NOT "R4 King"...
NOT ANYTHING ELSE WITH "R4" IN THE NAME! JUST "R4 Revolution For DS".
The cheap card for somebody that just wants to play games on a DS/Lite.
The cheap card for somebody that wants to play games on a DSi with more storage.
Mid-range card for people that want to play games on a DSi/XL with some extra features.
Higher-end card with even more features.
Pretty much the ultimate card right now.
DS / DS Lite
The card will work on an original (fat) DS or a DS Lite.
DSi / DSi XL
The card will work on a DSi or DSi XL as well.
Firmware updates are what let cards play newer games, these are the life-blood of the card.
SDHC refers to SD cards larger than 2GB (gigabytes). If there's no SDHC support, you can only use SD cards up to 2GB.
The Acekard 2i can update it's cheats (and get minor bug fixes) over WiFi without having to connect to a computer.
Auto Ap Bypass
Some carts have special features to ignore AP in most games, letting you play them without having to wait for a firmware update first. The Acekard only has partial support for this right now.
The Real-Time Save (Save State) function lets you save and reload your game progress at any moment you wish.
You can pull up text files and images in-game, in order to check a walkthrough or map you downloaded at any time during a game.
The card lets you slow down the game speed as you wish.
The card lets you create and modify cheats while the game is running.
The card has multiple pieces of special homebrew, such as it's own GBA and SNES emulators, as well as text/PDF reader and video player.
Unfortunately the DSTwo's extra CPU and RAM (which give it the special features) eat into the battery life a bit.
When you buy an R4 Clone, at best you'll get one that is supported by Wood -- a menu that the "team" behind your card doesn't make*.
At worst, you get a card that doesn't have updates to work with newer games.
*There is an R4i Gold that is compiled by the R4i team behind the card, but it's still relying on YWGs work.
your better off with a dstt if you want buy a cheap clone.
*cough* . Acekard 2i and you are ready to go
..and again... no.
i ended up buying an original r4 to replace my broken original r4 because it was all i could afford
Original R4's don't support SDHC.
there is like a $1 difference bewteen the r4 and dstt and $20 tot the acekard .
AceKards are LESS THAN $20, so it would be impossible for there to be a $20 difference.
But then again, you're suggesting someone buy a DSTT, so your comments are pretty much automatically invalid.
To the best of my knowledge, NO DSTTs or DSTT clones can run Wood, so thats a huge negative over a 1:1 R4 Clone right there.
And given that the R4i Golds which can run Wood are pretty close to the price of an AceKard2i, I'd suggest going with an AK2i.
I know i got a regular sd card and im using my 4gb sdhc for the homebrew channel on my wii
I have been through 2 dstt's both of them broke within 2 months so im not getting one of those things again
Actually I had WAIO on my old dstt (My dstt is broken now)
WAIO, not Wood.
Since Taiju Yamada (Xenon++) left the DS Scene, WAIO is dead.
The last released version of WAIO was based on Wood 1.16, however that version is only available to a very few people so you're most likely going to end up with WAIO based on Wood 1.15 which was released October 28th 2010, or roughly 3 months ago.
Conversely, Wood 1.23 was released just a few days ago.
If Wood could be updated simply by replacing a loaders file (similar to what AKAIO can do and the DSTT/YSMenu), it would be different since you could (possibly) just throw the new loader file into the old WAIO and be good to go, but that's not the case and any change now wouldn't have an effect on old WAIO.
I was actually going to use it for music not games
