Hardware should I buy a broken 3ds with a top broken screen?

The guy says his 3ds has a top black screen, and bought a replacement screen and says hes too lazy to fix it. I dont know him personally, what do you guys think of he purchase? hes selling it for like 40$ canadian. If its truley just a black screen and the rest of the ds powers up it should be fixable?

Assuming the consoles flaps are not broken and he's not lying it sounds like a good deal.

Sounds like a scam. It doesn't make sense, why would he buy the screen just to be "too lazy" to Install it.

Don't bother fixing cheap electronic rubbish, unless its a hobby and you are getting repair experience, or its a business you can make money from.

Best bet is buy cheap, good quality, second hand. Works for me.

Don't bother, my friend got a 3DS XL mint from Kijiji for $90, and was on 4.5 FW. Just wait a while, 3DSes come and go on Kijiji so fast.

well.. depends.. if the bottom screen powers up it should be okay to buy it.
if he already tried to open it - just no!
If you have no experience in repairing... never ever try it.
the cables (ribbons) are super small and you possibly will kill your device..
the first time i tried to repair my broken new 3ds i killed it completely beyond repair (although i didnt do anything wrong..
the next time i tried to repair a new 3ds i didnt do anything different but it worked... so sometimes the ribbon plugs are super easy to destroy..
the upper part is easy to repair but the lower part is a pain in the a**

So if you know how to repair stuff or change a screen (like iphone screen or whatever) then you should not have any problem
but if it is your first device you open... just spend more money and buy something that works...

Thats pretty lucky, I've waited for 2 months, cheapest I'f found 3ds xl for are 100 but firmware is always 9.5 or higher. I found one for 120 on a 8.5.

Its like impossible to find old firmware 3ds on craigslist now, everyone has it on higher firmware to play smash.

Not really. Many people don't use internet, and smash comes with firmware 7.0 which support kernel exploit.
