Heads up, Canadian gamers. Sony has partnered up with the biggest drug chain in the country (as in medicines, not the illegal ones!) to sell PS3 and PSP units on their shelves.

J├╝rgen Schreiber, President and CEO of Shoppers Drug Mart explains this new venture into the gaming consoles market:

Some 700 Shoppers Drug Mart/ Pharmaprix stores all over Canada will be selling PS3s and PSPs come Fall of 2010.

    Watch out for it.

Oh wow that's going to be weird. Then again, they already sell overpriced flash memory and digital cameras.

Same as anywhere else, I'd imagine. Just because they'll be selling them doesn't mean there'll be any special deal. Personally, I don't see the point of selling videogames at a drug store when it's easy enough to go to a future shop, HMV, zellers, eb games/gamestop, or any number of the independent or used game stores... but whatever. I've never seen a Shoppers with a particularly impressive software selection of Wii or DS games, and I don't imagine it'll be much different for Playstion stuff. They'll just sell the hardware, with a limited selection of a few of the more popular games.

Not knowing that Shopper's Drug Mart was a store, I read this as "Shoppers drug Mart to supply PS3 and PSP". I was anticipating a story about displeased shoppers drugging Wal Mart employees into getting PS3's and PSP's in their store... [IMG]

Well, 7/11 over here does sell used games now. You can get video games and consoles anywhere nowadays.

I thought the exact same thing I was like "Well I don't that'll work very well drugging people into selling things".

Shoppers drug mart is the last place you would want to buy electronics.
