Not that it should be too shocking by now, but it looks like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is all but official at this point. A dutiful fan snapped a picture of a Target pre-order card for the game, reports IGN. In addition to confirming the next entry of Activision's mammoth franchise, the card also lists a November 13 release date, which certainly jives with the series' typical launch timing. It also lines up with the a Spanish retail listing spotted last month, which had the title slated for a November 12 launch.

The official, official reveal of the next Call of Duty game, whatever it is, is set to go down on Tuesday, May 1 during the NBA playoffs.

Alright, everything is in order. Now we just have to wait for Tuesday to see what this game is all about (Is it a direct continuation? Is it in the 80s? Do they go to space? etc.).

Judging by how BO was a loose continuation of WaW (Well, it at least starred two returning campaign characters), I'm pretty sure this will be a continuation in some form as well. I'm surprised they went with Black Ops II as the title though to be honest.

Why "Black Ops"? Regardless of sales, my friends say that it was the worst of the series. Why go back, or build on to what was generally a let down comparative to the rest of the series?

I thought Black Ops was great, but the Call of Duty franchise is divisive in general. Disagreements over the quality of each game are pretty much the norm.

It's all that matters. Really.

The only CoD game i've played is Black Ops, so i can't really say what's what compared to others.

I enjoyed CoD: BO and looking forward to it's successor.

Indeed, courtesy to the development efforts by both Treyarch and Infinity Ward.

Infinity Ward is often credited for producing better quality CoD titles (COD4, MW2, MW3) than Treyarch (WaW, BO) though that does not reflect my opinion.

Meh, owning every call of duty from #2 to #7 (black ops), I am tired of CoD. When MW3 was released, I didn't think about it at all. It's gotten stale imo. I hope this new CoD game brings new things..... and fix those fucking killstreaks!

I hate it too.

MW2 was just boring, MW3 was decent enough time waster for a evening but nothing I'd ever want to go back to. I did like being in London, Paris etc it was little different than a generic arab/soviet country. BO though was just awful.

Not sure what to think, I enjoyed WaW & CoD 3 both by Treyarch (though of course I prefer CoD1&2) but after BO I'm not sure if they can get the series back to the excellence it was years ago. Personally the cancelled games that we've heard about sounded like they were interesting and should have been given a chance.

QFT, BLOPS is the ONLY CoD title I haven't completed, just too goddamn boring and with a stupid and forced storyline. Couldn't be bothered with it.
Multiplayer was cool, but only for about 40 hours. Than the severe problems (hit-detection) ruined it.

MW2 all the way, MW3 was well worth it too.

they should try something new like make a COD game that is sci fi or fantasy like a what if situations, like what if WW2 didnt end in 1945 and was still being fought, or have a COD set in the future with lasers and things like what bf2142 did, as it is, its the same old same stuff l8ly its boring why release a COD thats almost the same as the last each year GREEDY you bet.

If they did this, I would probably buy CoD. Love Sci Fi.

If they did this it wouldn't be CoD anymore.
