So yeah, would the safe update 3.3U trick the disc or what? I just don't want to use GeckoOS every time I want to boot the game. >_>

This update would be very obvious, new peripheral=new update. So we might see another forced update with the release of Wii Sports Resort and the Wii motion Plus. And off course with the new SD storage solution there will be one.

But there's not a single doubt that "THE LADS" will produce another Cios to solve that problem.

Up until now all my updates are Nintendo's. I still have a "clean" 3.2E on my Wii. I think those days are over. I guess any newer firmware will have to be a custom one.

Someday we'll have "true" custom firmwares and then none of this will be a concern anymore.

Doesn't a scrubbed release get rid of the update?

it's a nintendo game, all nintendo games have a update, no need for confirmation, and to avoid the update just boot it via geko os, i think that's what i will end up doing myself as i will not update.

yeah very true..... difference is...you don't need to remove the 001 protection, just run games though geckoOS,
that's basicly the disc channel for me [IMG] bypasses updates and the bollox 001 data protection.
Also starfall stops the wii disc from showing wii system update if there was one..... unless your modchip has support for 001...and also bypasses updates.

yeah but that is a piss about, and your trucha signing the game which leads to the shit error in 3.3ab, where you get system files are corrupt because of blocked trucha feature [IMG]
if on that with fake signed discs, make sure you insert game whilst in the gecko app/channel

removing updates (brickblocking) doesn't use the fakesigning bug.

however, what I haven't seen anyone mention is that a game can still "require" an update if it just won't play without it.

Yeah sometimes you just can't load the game if you're haven't updated the WII !
Like Metroid Prime 3 you need the update otherwise : black screen !

iv'e never came across a game that doesn't play without updating.
Forgot noob, yeah isn't a trucha signed if you used brickblocker, i was just referring to removing 001 or removing the update through the iso.

We will have to wait until the game comes out, so we can check if it works fine by just removing the update (WiiBrickBlocker) or you will have to use GeckoOS to boot it.

If you need to use GeckoOS, i will update... installing a cIOS before, of course. I only care about HBC and installing WADS.

Edit: BTW, what cIOS will be good to install?
