Im selling my brand new, sealed gateway compatible 3ds xl, the red one for 160 dollars. Considering we just had boxing day in Canada and some pretty good deals on the 3DS XL, Im wondering if any of you Canadians can chime in on whether or not this is a reasonable price to sell it at. Thanks for your help and opinions guys.

1. if it is sealed how do you know it is 4.5 or lower(currently gateway compatible)?
2. move quick cuz the bottom is gonna drop out of the old 3ds(old 3ds xl) market once price cuts(clearing inventory) for NEW 3DS models start.

Before long all the 3DS XL will be gateway compatible, if gateway ever release their update.

Not true. Gateway is only compatible with versions up to 9.2. Anything past that you will need Sky3DS to play any 3DS roms (legal backups of what you own obviously). Not mentioning any of the other cards since they are just rumored and or hoaxes.

Edit: Although no new 3DS on the market comes with higher firmware than 9.4 so yes what you are saying is partially true that "all the 3DS XL will be gateway compatible". Unless this has been confirmed otherwise possibly with the NN3DS that are out already which might possibly be on higher firmware, but cannot confirm.

Well I know it is gateway compatible firmware because the serial number on the system is SW10XXX, so I dont even think it is an issue.

I have a regular gateway compatible 3ds and wanted to open and use the 3ds xl but decided after the holidays that I need the money a lot more so hence I went to go sell it but I just want to make sure I am getting a fair price for it here in Toronto. After researching it, it seems like the market is so damn different when it comes to 3ds xls around the world.

Many places in Canada have brand new 3DS XL on sale from time to time for $160. You can see this a lot on RFD.
Of course all these 3DS XL will be gateway compatible soon, as they will be on FW < 9.2.0.

If your 3DS XL is between 4.1 and 4.5 then the value is more than $160 ($200+). However this will only be until Gateway releases their 9.2.0 support. Otherwise, a brand new 3DS XL for $160 is the price when it is on sale, meaning your chances of selling it is quite high.

Won't be long until the Gateway is 9.x compatible. From 4.5 to 9.0 is the big step for Gateway, afterwards going from 9.0 to 9.4 or higher is the same series should not be nearly as hard of task unless Nintendo decides to push big changes in a 10.x firmware in an attempt to block off flash cards but I'm doubtful that will happen before the release of the New 3DS in Europe and North America.

I'll bet that any 3DS/2DS sold at retail in the USA or Canada do not have 9.3 or higher, it's too soon for any of them to have 9.3. On the other hand if it has 4.0 - 4.5 then that was a good find, I bought a red 3DS XL last year around this time with 4.4 (SW123xxxx). OP didn't mention anything about Sky flashcart?

From 4.5 to 9.0 is the big step for Gateway,

4.1 and 4.4 works with gateway too, that much I can verify.

Hold onto it, we don't know exactly what the new exploit will be like for anything higher then 4.x.
