Hi guys. I am thinking about selling my MSI GT75 laptop and getting a new one. The one I have now I purchased back in 2018. I would be selling it locally and am wondering what you guys think about a suggested price. Here are the Specs:

MSI GT75 Titan 8SF

- Windows 10 64-bit, can upgrade to 11
Currently on 11 64-bit, but the laptop came with 10 preinstalled. Should I reinstall 10?

- Intel Core i7 8th Gen 8750H @ 2.20GHz
- 32GB System RAM
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 with 8GB VRAM

For the laptop I am looking at getting, it would have either an RTX 3070 8GB VRAM, or RTX 3080 16GB VRAM. If I go with the 3080, it would bump up price about $500, and I would have to cut back on CPU and storage/ssd options. My budget is about the low to mid-low end of $3k. With that laptop, it would have a native res of 1920*1080, and not 4k. Do you guys think the 3080 would be overkill for that resolution, or do you guys think the RTX 3070 is enough?

Thoughts and help appreciated :)

Get off of gaming laptops, if you are not using them while traveling - constantly.

Buy a small formfactor PC instead and travel with that.

If you are willing to upgrade them yearly, for a bump of 16% in graphics performance - this will seriously cut into your budget over time.

If money is no object, then its hard to give you tips on how to best sell your old stuff at higher risk to the buyer (no factory warrenty) every year. Buyer beware.

Also If you think in this forum people sell gaming laptops for 16% performance increase all the time, and can smell your local market conditions by licking a package of sea salt...

Answer would have been less "harsh", if todays used market would operate "normally" when it comes to gpus. It doesnt.
