SEGA will delist over 60 titles of their SEGA Classics games from virtual storefronts

SEGA released a new FAQ regarding their Sega Classics collection, which includes games from SEGA's history, ranging from their Mega Drive / Genesis classics to some Dreamcast classics as well.

However, the news are not uplifting, as SEGA announced in their FAQ that they will be delisting games from their SEGA Classics catalogue from virtual storefronts. Here's the full list of 60+ titles that will be removed from Steam:

Other consoles will also be impacted by this delisting, as Xbox will have around 12 games being delisted, and both PlayStation and Nintendo Switch will have SEGA Genesis Classics completely delisted from their storefronts.

SEGA will be delisting these selected games and bundles on December 6th at 11:59pm PST, making them unavailable for purchase once the deadline arrives. It's worth noting that SEGA did specify that those that have already purchased and own certain titles or bundles from this list will still be able to download and play said titles and those will remain in their libraries.

There is a strong argument for media preservation but these companies don’t care. I’m glad I own nights in to dreams before it was delisted but it’s mean.

It's possible that they are working on a new collection with better features and more games, which could explain why they're doing this, as they have done with other games like Sonic Generations.
The reasoning should have been included in the FAQ, but they gave no indication as to why they are delisting them.
Even if it's that it's still annoying and these are essentially roms people can grab off the internet. Sega being stupid.

Genesis Classics is a laggy mess so nothing lost there.
Yes, but at least it was a way we could legally own the games in some form. And once December 6 rolls around, that legal method will be gone from all platforms. And even if they do come back, they're likely to have Denuvo permanently glued onto them. Truly annoying.

Dumb to remove a good legal rom resource.
Even if I don't play it I'd want that legal resource just to have it and justify my use of the games elsewhere and the feel goods of owning them in some form anyway.

Guess they'll put them all in a Yakuza game later so we have to commit virtual crimes just to play them.

Actually if they made an arcade hub much like the arcade sections of the Yakuza games complete with Yakuza characters then sold the games as seasonal packs in an ongoing effort to provide classic sega games otherwise lost, especially if previous owners get their games back, that might not be too bad.

Though I suspect they'll just do nothing with the games so eh.

EDIT: Nevermind, I thought the collection was the same as Switch. I didn't realize it's a glorified emulator where the individual games are basically DLC.

Which games are worth getting. I'm gonna buy the Streets of Rage games, Golden Axe ones, Altered Beast, the 3 Ecco games, Ristar, and Alex Kidd.

You can just download the roms from the same sites that Sega got them from. Who cares about legality? People aren't prosecuted over illegal copies of Comix Zone.

i don't even think sega cares that much about piracy for these old games either tbh, the steam workshop for the genesis/mega drive classics collection is full of "conversion" roms that replace games with entirely different ones

So is it worth getting Sega Mega Drive Classics on PS5/4?
How is the emulation? Acceptable?

I do have a sega mini that is modded with all games, but sometimes it's just convenient to boot a classic on my main console (PS5).

EDIT: It is on sale for 6EUR on PS4/5. So I just bought it. Shame it does not include the Ecco games though on consoles.
