Yeah, I second that. The more attention it gets the merrier. Figure you'd be the one to tackle it too, right :grog:

Thought I should add that, yes, those two are the official "Bonus" games, though if you consider Mega Man Wily Wars never got a physical release in the states (talk about being ahead of its time, sadly), and that Monster World IV never got translated and brought overseas, then there are more "bonuses".

Edit: Actually changing to japanese changes Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean to Puyo Puyo, which you could also consider another game.

So technically there are 43 games on it :D 45 if you count the fact that Mega Man Wily wars has Mega Man 1-3 in it.

Edit: Wait, Super Fantasy Zone just came to mind so that makes 6 bonus games!

Initial impressions I've seen aren't stellar, from non functioning controllers to inaccurate and laggy sound emulation. Which isn't something I would have expected from M2. I wonder if it's able to receive firmware updates?

The problem of not trying to offend anyone.

By the way, what are you guys favourite Sega Genesis Games? I actually had a Bootleg Of Vectorman, and it was the closest the Genesis got to a 16 bit Megaman game. Snow Bros was quite good.

And Sonic Spinball might be difficult but it was actually fun.

So another Sega mini thing you have to hack to make it usefu*l? Ratz.

*Google Sega Brazil portable for more info.

Who will be the first to mock this saying "Sega Does... badly."?

tbh I dont see how "genesis does what Nintendid" would offend anyone, it would be pretty funny everyone knows they are just copying the snes mini, it would be a funny gentle self deprecating joke, sega usually seems pretty open to taking little pokes at themselves and tbh I kinda like a company that's willing to just be honest

Yeah, I heard the same. Although it seems that for the audience they're aiming for it's probably good enough. I believe if you're a huge retro enthusiast then the Mega Sg would still be better, and naturally too considering the price difference. I'd say the work they put into those extra games, menu (boxart, style etc.) and 42 games evens out the 50$ you're probably paying for the system with its software, hardware and design, if you estimate both controllers together having a value of 30$.

The Genesis classics on Switch go for a 30$ and it has over 50 games, and many of them don't have the same licences (Road rash, disney etc.). Still, I would always prefer better emulation of it too.

Those specific guys are usually above doing "impressions/unboxing" crap, they don't need so much clickbait since they have day jobs and just give you detailed reviews when they are ready, but yeah it's weird with this release. MVG already started asking about how to hack the system that Sega themselves sent him, and said that he would have to put off in-depth comparisions with real hardware for a month. Then Gamesack go right ahead doing those comparisons, basically doing their usual idea of a review minus the last minute of conclusions, and didn't imply that they would be looking at it in the future. MLiG just have a surface talk and barely looked at anything. I'm wondering what directives and conditions Sega sent these things out as its caused them to all do things unusual for their channel and yet completely different from each other.

It could be regional, as their EU/UK/NA press teams are all split and run by different people? Perhaps SEGA EU had different rules or something? Otherwise, I'm curious to know as well.

I hope this Genesis Mini sells well to show Sega that people will buy if they put in the effort and banish Atgames to history.

Game Gear Classic would be a great follow up.

Those were exactly the same thoughts I had after watching them. My guess is that Sega gave vague conditions. If not, I guess Joe is gonna come under fire soon :P
Or maybe Sega gave different directions to all of them...
Yeah, but thing is all the reviewers mentioned by me and him are all based in Americas (USA, Canada), so I don't know what the Europeans have said so far. Though I'm really curious how it turns out, if it's all 50hz or selectable and if the US releases will be available...

    1. Phony LameStation was $20 new in the box when I picked one up last month.
    2. You can vastly improve the LameStation with easily downloaded hacks.

Can the new Sega compete with the LameStation? Not at that price.

Either they treat their fans like effing shit and their fans love it, because Nintendo left Sega in the dustbin of history decades ago and has yet another hit console right now, or you are full of shit.
    I'm going with the latter.

And yes, this is another example of Sega trying to duplicate the success that Nintendo has had. Too bad it's a copy of a failed console unlike the NES, SNES or PlayStation minis.

This has nothing to do with how Nintendo consoles have been selling.
Tell me one instance where Nintendo has listened to fan suggestions or fan works/projects that doesn't involve hard backlash from everyone after an initial showcase.

You obviously haven't followed gaming news the past years, because there has been nothing but controversy surrounding Nintendo and it's legal fore-front which does nothing but affect fandom as a whole.
You can't even make a drawing of Nintendo characters without being C&D/DMCA'd by them on the spot.
Not even mention how they have been putting a halt on everything that has any kind of connection to their IPs.

Compare that to how Sega treats their fandom with fan projects and other media.
A whole different world, almost the entire opposite if I'm being honest.
Sega's relationship with their fandom is one of the best I've seen in all media, and compared to Nintendo's, that's just an insult.
Even worse, Nintendo didn't even bother to address the Jo-Con drift situation until they were close to being sued by a US law firm.
If that doesn't speak leagues about how Nintendo gives the finger to their fans while they simply fill their pockets without caring about them, then I don't know what does.

Nintendo doesn't even listen to fan feedback in the slightest unless they are hit with backlash hard from all around the world.

The Playstation mini was a failure, what the hell are you smoking?

    Let's see:

    - Open source emulator, really, Sony? Too fucking stupid to write your own?
    - Crappy GUI, no music, no video options or way to change button layout
    - 9 out of 21 games are PAL, running 50 Hz, lol, who runs 50 Hz in 2019?

Yeah, sorry, but the PSX Mini was absolute shit

I'm still pretty convinced Sony did the least amount of effort since they knew fans would improve on it anyways. Still, it worked and the narrative right now is that the PS Classic is worth it since it is so cheap and hackers have fixed it. I don't know what to say, but at least the consumers have the possibility to get something better than what the vanilla PS Classic offers.

The whole PAL in NTSC region stuff was pretty lame and a sad excuse for having poorly optimized software. Still, I retain that the mini consoles should try to be as faithful to the regions they get released in (though while still providing the 60hz option for converts like me).
