SEGA is looking into further PC ports and focusing on multi-platform releases thanks to Persona 4

Nintendo wasn't the only one to release its fiscal year quarter results recently, with SEGA putting out a document of their own that featured an interesting tidbit. In addition to the sales data, the was a section of investor-related questions and concerns regarding SEGA's plans for the future. One such investor asked the company as to whether future SEGA titles would be released on Steam at launch, following the success of Persona 4 Golden's PC port. Haruki Satomi, COO, and president of SEGA responded by saying sales of Persona 4 Golden were much higher than anticipated, leading SEGA to start considering multi-platform releases for their games, including on PC, as well as bringing more of their older games to new systems.

Currently, an Atlus game is being officially ported to the Nintendo Switch, in the form of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD, which was announced during July's Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase. Previously, other Atlus titles, such as Catherine: Full Body and Catherine Classic released on the Nintendo Switch and PC respectively, following initial releases on PlayStation systems.

Q: “Persona 4 the Golden” has been selling well on Steam, but do you have any plans to sell newly released games on Steam as well?

A: We remastered “Persona 4 the Golden”, a title previously sold on the PlayStation Vita, and released it for sale on Steam this fiscal year. Because of the game’s critical acclaim and its low selling price, sales were much stronger than expected. We will continue to actively promote porting previously released titles to Steam and new platforms. We are also negotiating with platform holders for new games in the future, and we’re considering ways to sell under favorable conditions for each title. Among them are measures such as preparing PC versions of the titles from the beginning, with multi-platform releases in mind.

I can see Persona 5 royal is coming to PC, and I bet they are actually porting it at the moment. But the question is, when? They probably want to squeeze the sales from PS4 first, but then PS5 have a compatibility with PS4 games... somehow I cannot see it's coming very soon as PS5 practically extending PS4 software lifetime value. Even after PS4 is dead for good, they can just keep selling it to PS5 owners.

I really want to have Sonic Heroes on PC. They made Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, and Sonic Generations on PC so why not Sonic Heroes?
