With the first one just finished airing in Japan, giving us insight of two Wii U SKUs. 8GB (26,250 yen)and 32GB (31,500 yen) with a launch date of December 8th 2012. 1GB of game memory RAM and 1GB for OS so 2GB RAM in total. A second direct will be on later showcasing us Wiii U software.

I like the fact that Nintendo is vigorously pushing the Wii U.

Btw Nintendo has confirmed that Nintendo Land will be released a stand-alone title. This means it won’t be included with the Wii U hardware. Keep in mind, this information only applies to Japan.

The launch price is much lower than expected. 26,800 Yen is definitely below my expected 30 grand for 8GB.
This means that the American launch price is likely $249.99 for 8GB.

Unless I'm doing something wrong wouldn't those numbers be roughly $300 for 8GB and $400 for 32GB?

Which starts at exactly same time as UK/EUR showing
sneaky ninty

Wii U Looks to be about £250 premium and £210 Basic for UK but they will probably add a few more pounds the these prices

It's around $300 - $350,

But you need to take into account that Japanese games/consoles are usually quite a bit more expensive than the States.

EDIT: my bad. ¥31,500 is $405.

GPGPU is one of the interesting facts announced by Iwata in this direct. For reference the GPU performs calculation usually done by the CPU and freeing up the CPU resources.

It might be a reason why we are seeing some ports run worse for not being optimised properly for Wii U hardware and is more in line with the next xbox/PS4 also highly rumoured to be GPGPU so Wii U might get some ports from those system too.

If I remember right, Wii Sports wasn't packed it either in Japan, right ?
Yup but that was pretty much a glorified tech demo, Nintendo ripped their homeland off selling that. Nintendoland has a lot more content, they could have just taken all of the games out and made them eShop titles. There's no way it'll be a pack in game

Also I don't see the need for anyone who isn't Japanese to watch this second show, I'd doubt it'll have anything else that the Europe/US ones will have.

The Second show is all about the games and stuff.

The UK/Eur one is the region equivalent of this first one then there will probably be a UK/Eur version on the second one later tonight in UK/Eur also

I do love these though
best way to inform the fans

even though they are now raging at pre-orders online because the pre-ordered White but want the Premium

Nope, the first Japan show was just 20 minutes the US/Eur one will be a lot longer. Also they're all on at the same time.

Seriously I think its over priced itself out of the market, roughly $403 for the console and roughly $173 for an extra controller :wtf:

It doesn't. It's common sense that they'll be longer. There won't be an equivalent 2nd show for the rest of the world, the US one is a live press event and so they'll want to keep everything in that one show.

If I'm wrong I'll buy you a muffin.

You are aware that converting Yen to dollars is a totally wrong way to get a price right? Japanese items are far more expensive then US.

If there was going to be a 2nd UK/Eur one we would know about it already.

Didn't we only find out about the Japanese one at the end of the first one?

Japan is different, for the rest of the World Nintendo just don't do last minute announcements, for promotional reasons they like to give the public time.

Yes , work phoned me up and told me not to come in!

I can watch all three now. :D

I bet we will see no new software, maybe Japan will get a few that we won't see in US/EU. :/
