Hacking Search/replace files in Wii Memory?

Hi all,
I'm just wondering how to look for files in the Wii memory when you play a game. I own a USB Gecko for one week now and already made some cool codes

Now I want to do a file replacement code like Phantom Wings did for SSBB.
I know it is really complicated, but I think it would be a good practice

So can you please hint me in the right direction?
