    "J" build FIXED!

The "J" build of ScummVMDS which supports both The Dig and Full Throttle has received an update. The area where The Dig crashed has been fixed. Also the crash in Full Throttle at the derby scene has been fixed; the game can be completed now! As you probably noticed I have skipped over BETA 4, which offered the same fixes but suffered from a memory leak.

whoohoo i just beat full throttle!!

    /me does the kirby dance!

it runs great except for a few cut scene hiccups. the ending credit music cuts in and out. there is a game freeze after the credits finish. other than those tiny annoyances the game is fully playable now!

almost done with full throttle now
also starting to play the dig since i saw gameplay of it
scummvm just needs to make curse of monkey island playable and that will be the best

if anyone is curious the songs from the game were performed by a rock band known as the gone jackals.

there was also a direct sequel planned for full throttle called 'payback.' there was insider issues between the creators and management in early 2000, and the project got cancelled.

I thought they said Full Throttle etc was impossible to emulate on the DS?

works a treat from what i can tell - love how they've managed to squeeze the whole screen into the DS (so you don't have to pan across anymore)

I really wish I liked point-and-click games. There's a whole bunch of them that work through this emu. Sigh....such is the life of a hyper-particular gamer like me.

i think they use the extra ram found with some ds flash cart bundles via the gba slot like the oprea browser cart... this allows these games to work.

i hope monkey island gets worked on too. tho might have to lose voice maybe to get the rest of the graphics to work or something :/
playing broken sword directors cut atm its amazing [IMG] i love point and click adventures.
my only real gripe with scummvm ds is the multiple load files. there should be one loader which loads the specific correct loader for you.. remembering the loader letter is a pain.

The Dig is, hands down, one of the most aesthetically pleasing games I have played. The soundtrack especially is superb. I used to fall asleep listening to it for a whole summer vacation... for me, it's one of the best game soundtracks ever and one of my favorite albums. It's one of the games that I play at least once every year...
The soundtrack CD itself is quite hard to find, but you can download the album here
    *snip*

    enjoy!

(Reason for edit: no file sharing please, last i checked The Dig is still under copyright. -AW)

Agreed, 2short, the dig was not just another point and click. It was one of the best stories i have ever experienced.

i agree, most of them are like ... bleh. but give full throttle a try. it's a short game, it's fun, and it's a bit edgy. it might make you want to then try some of the others. what was great about the point-and-click games were that they used the same basic game play elements but offered a genre for everyone. you can find crime, magic, fantasy, action, adventure, puzzle, humor, sci-fi, etc.

Yes! It was even released as a book! Bought the hardback version on ebay some years ago, it's an interesting read if you're a fan of the game [IMG]

And yes, Full Throttle is great too. A bit short, but fantastic. Tim Schafer (creator and producer of FT amongst other lucasarts games) has his own company now (double fine productions), they released a little game called psychonauts a few years ago, which is brilliant. His new project Brütal Legend is also looking fantastic!

It was also released as an Audo Book, I bought it from ebay for $5.

We're not talking about full throttle, we're talking about The Dig. The Dig is, afaik, the only lucasarts adventure released as a book [IMG]
If you're a fan of Full Throttle, you should look forward to Tim Schafer's upcoming game, Brutal Legend :-)
    Also do check out Psychonauts!
