Ahead of its launch next month, developer Striking Distance aired the launch trailer for The Callisto Protocol, the sci-fi horror title from the creators of Dead Space:

Set on Jupiter’s dead moon Callisto in the year 2320, The Callisto Protocol casts players as Jacob Lee - an inmate in Black Iron Prison. When a mysterious outbreak throws the moon into chaos, Jacob must face his darkest fears to defeat the bloodthirsty creatures that stalk him as he unravels the dark mysteries at the heart of the powerful United Jupiter Company.

The Callisto Protocol will launch on December 2, 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and PC

What's the problem for offering an option for those, who have no other way to play this game, but have good internet?
The whole reason people are agenst this whole cloud-version idea is because its a lazy way for developers to port their game to the switch. Have a look at Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. Those could've been ported to the switch by ease. 3 won't run on switch so cloud is the best way in that case.

The Switch is surposed to be portable and no one has good enough wifi to take a cloud version on the go. Not to mention the small % of people who live in a area without wifi or don't have wifi are automatically excluded from playing it.

Cloud versions require a very strong always online internet connection and if for some reason your wifi decides to lock up or freeze. You are going to be kicked from the game, just because of a signal drop.

This is not Kingdom Hearts or Square Enix.
Doubt they could port this one over to the Switch. The Switch has the option to be portable, it is not always meant to play that way. For example, I never take it out of the dock. If people don't have wi-fi, they probably won't have a Switch.

Stuff you misunderstood:

1. I used Kingdom Hearts as a example and i thought you knew that.

2. I never said the Switch is mean't to be portable. Everyone knows its a hybrid. But Nintendo is marketing more as a Handheld.

Don't take it litteral. I was saying why most people hate cloud versions.

Of course there are exceptions.. like you.

I hope this lives up to the hype. It's been touted as the spiritual successor to Dead Space but Isaac Clarke's Mag-Boots are big shoes to fill

the main image on their steam page is funny cuz it looks like knock off death stranding (even though I've been seeing stuff about this game since at least 2020)

Guys I only joking when said that! For me the cloud version is the worst way to play a game and it never belongs to us only during the servers life

Yeah, a while back when I first saw this game I thought it was a Deathstranding DLC called Calisto Protocol coz f me it sure looks like Norm Reedus from Deathstranding wearing a helmet, lmfao on the similarities.

But hot damn the cover art of the original Dead-Space was super sexy, this looks way too much like Deathstranding, they better change it before going gold.

This, I was referring to this because i agree with you. Cloud versions of games suck because you basically own a license and if for some reason the devs decided to pull the server plug... it's game over. No more game for you.

Can't wait for PS5/PS4 version. I dont want to see any games coming to Switch cloud version. Nonsense. Nintendo Switch is not powerful enough. And a cloud version is just a temporarily until they decide to turn off the online in the future. Online is a useless, really.

This does not look scary, it appears to be using a ton of off the shelf tropes, and the music is a buzz kill. I will most certainly be passing.

Will most likely be your loss. Not sure why the music complaint. It's not like its going to appear in game outside of possibly the opening or ending credits. These two trailers are much better.

I hope who ever buys it feels like they got their money's worth, though to me it looks like a game put together by fans of Dead Space and monsters that are far less interesting to look at. As for the score to the other trailer... ya man, if that's the best the dev team could think of to represent their "horror" game, then I'm afraid they don't know horror, unless we are talking about the horror of enjoying terrible music. :)
