Hacking Saving images as 8 bit BMP's

Hi,

How do you save an image as 8 bit? I can't find it in Photoshop and saving in Paint gets me an ugly image.
People who have skinned for the G6/M3 Real before: how do you do it?

photoshop: file -> export for web

Well 8Bit gets ugly xD
you have to do it with the right colours from the begining, and just try to get it to look good.
8Bit isn't that much colour options in you know.

In photoshop: Image -> Mode -> Indexed Color and use 256 colors.

As long as you fiddle with the settings to get the best quality it should be almost indistinguishable from the 24 bit original.
