Hi all,

I have a PAL region (UK) Wii that is outputting RGB signal via SCART cable to my CRT monitor. And I use the latest USB Loader GX r1281 to load games on my SD card. And all my NTSC versions of backup will freeze with a black screen on boot, and I have to do a force shutdown by pressing power button on Wii.

My syscheck is attached in the post. And here are other information which might be useful:

Video output:
480i 4:3 with SCART cable

System version:
PAL, 4.3E (v514)

Loader:
USB Loader GX r1281

I have tried few solutions so far:

1) Video Mode = System Default; Dol Video Patch = OFF; 480p Pixel Fix Patch = OFF
The game will freeze at startup with black screen

2) Video Mode = Force NTSC; Dol Video Patch = OFF; 480p Pixel Fix Patch = OFF
The game will run, but video has a red tint:

3) Video Mode = Force PAL 60; Dol Video Patch = OFF; 480p Pixel Fix Patch = OFF
The game will freeze at startup with black screen

4) Video Mode = Force PAL 50; Dol Video Patch = OFF; 480p Pixel Fix Patch = OFF
The game will freeze at startup with black screen

5) Video Mode = Region Patch; Dol Video Patch = OFF; 480p Pixel Fix Patch = OFF
The game will freeze at startup with black screen

Really need some advice here. Thanks in advance for any suggestions/helps.

Not all NTSC games support a PAL(60) output., it can crash if you force it.

The red screen is because if the Wii is outputting NTSC, it assumes you're using S-Video and send the wrong signal to the pins of the RGB cable (S-Video and RGB share some pins on the AV out).

If you want to play NTSC games on a Wii, it's easier to use a component or composite cable. Or use a Wii2HDMI adapter which uses the component signal.

Thanks for the reply. I do understand that not all NTSC games support PAL60 (or PAL50 sometimes). But as I have mentioned, I have tried both PAL60 and PAL50 for a number of NTSC games and the console has failed to boot everytime for every NTSC game. This is why it seems wierd to me...

I chose to use SCART because 1) it is RGB, and 2) I personally liked the graphs of the old CRT. But it appears the only solution would be getting PAL games instead?

I don't know which NTSC game does support PAL output and which don't, I mostly play PAL versions.

One game I'm sure it can be forced to PAL60 is the NTSC version of "Go Vacation". You can give that game a try if you want to see if it can boot NTSC games.

Even though you think that's bad, it's actually good news for you. If certain games look red it means that you really have a real RGB cable (it could be a simple AV cable camouflaged as RGB). Now, how do I make those games that appear in red appear in their normal color? I don't use usb loader gx. I only use Wiiflow and in Wiiflow there is an option in video that allows you to force the games to pal60. This way you will see it in color and at 60Hz. Even so, if they are games from the Wii itself, you must enter the settings of each game and force certain video options. There are certain emulators or certain hombrew games that do not allow them to be played in color because they did not implement the pal60 mode in them. For example, certain versions of bluemsx (240p) you will see that if you use the RGB cable you will see it in red as well. Then you should look for a version that does have that pal 60 graphic option implemented. This also happens on the Wiisx Titanium. In truth, there is nothing wrong with your console. All the games I tried from Gamecube and Wii worked well, yes, changing those video and country options that appear in Wiiflow

USB Loader GX also have the option to force to PAL60. I use it for the NTSC version of "Go Vacation" on a PAL Wii connected with SCART RGB.

But the problem of the TS seems to be that some NTSC games just don't support PAL or PAL60 and crashes at startup.
