In the first picture, it's got a chip labelled "Xbox 360".

I'm thinking, from left to right: Ethernet, USB ports, HDMI and audio jacks, video cable, Digital OUT, Power...

It does have a PC cooling system for testing.

It seems definately real. It even still has all the JTAG connections soldered in.

EW, they're still using BGA Hana.

Curious fact: There are TWO Sata ports up there.

    Why not GLOD?

It's most probably real, but it might not be- it's only been a few weeks since they have been asking for new motherboard ideas-men, so it's a but too soon...

And PC motherboards have RAM slots, CPU slot, a PCI-E x16 slot, etc. Its pretty easy to tell this isn't a PC motherboard.

On one hand, double dipping (releasing a slim version of) your console is a sleazy way of exploiting your fanbase. (Also, say you have a widespread DRE problem, a Clock Bug or a RROD epidemic. People who bought the older models will feel pressured to purchase a new machine. As will people who have had a console fail.)

On the otherhand, its a good way to boost sales if you can recoup the R&D and manufacturing costs.

Honestly this thing will probably have Natal built in and it will be rebranded as "Xbox Natal." (Or whatever they finally decide to call "Natal.")

simple design, i thought it would be more fancy to impress the hackers for the system (or maybe have a HACKERS: DO NOT TOUCH sign)

The reason for the existence of this product, if it does indeed exist, is actually in response to the RRoD. On all 360 systems, new or old, the possibility of the RRoD exists (though it is lessened in newer models). This is because Microsoft rushed the design, choosing its cabinet style over performance in a bid to beat Sony to the consumer market and look cool doing so.

The problem is actually the motherboard and the placement of its components: it doesn't allow for proper cooling and in point of fact does the opposite. Over time the board warps from excess heat, the glue holding the GPU severs and melts, and chip becomes detached from its designated location. They've come up with fixes to help prevent this, but they're bandaids at best.

To make a somewhat technical explanation shorter, designing a whole new motherboard is the only true method of solving the RRoD. The components need to be placed differently and designed in a way that allows for optimal cooling. If they can accomplish that, which is really the only reason for designing an slim 360, they'll be golden.

Xbox with Natal built in is a fail.

A lot of people have their consoles in entertainment centres or low down beneath their TV and so it won't even be able to see the person- a stupid idea.

I don't think the slim xbox will have natal built in. I think they will bundle it together though.
