I really doubt that they're going to release a more powerful console. Nintendo has never cared about that kind of thing, and there strength has never been in graphics. The only reason they would do this is if they were planning to get into VR (or AR) and actually needed the extra power. But a "Pro" switch would also be an easy way to milk more money out of existing customers without major expenses, but Nintendo usually isn't that cynical.

I also don't think a simple hardware revision with minor changes would generate these many rumors, so... I don't know. Maybe it'll be a form-factor change? That would be interesting. Maybe something more portable like the 3DS, or less portable like the Wii U? I would be so friggin happy if they shrunk it down to be more like the Vita.

They could go with the socs I have in my closet drawers for all I care.

We're consumers. We don't care about that. We care about great games playing at respectable framerates and resolutions in 2020.

It doesn't have to have amazing graphics. We're not asking for an RTX 2080 performance here. We're asking for smooth gameplay, and powerful enough to play at 1080p. That's all. That's literally all.

Not really. They just ported it to Switch. They don't make a brand new AAA games for Nintendo Switch.

I passed on Switch Lite in order to wait on a possible Animal Crossing LE Switch, but now it seems more prudent to keep waiting for this instead.

Most AAA games are multiplats, so that's to be expected - Youngblood was a brand-new title. EA is testing the waters too with FIFA, you have 2K releasing NBA 2Kxx and WWE 2Kxx, the system definitely has more traction than the Wii U ever did.

I totally agreed with you that it is more traction than the Wii U but I am talking about AAA games so as you said that's to be expected. So... My opinion is that Nintendo Switch is not great for AAA games anyway. However, I like it for other reasons like portable home-brew and emulators are great for it. Thats about. it.

Buy Lite, don't open it, and return it if it's not gonna fit your homebrew needs after the new revision is announced or released.

I think we are misunderstanding each other here.
I mean a New Nintendo Switch revision/ pro SHOULD support the current Nintendo Switch system + games.
That is not such a weird thing if a system is not even 3 years old.
It's not like I'm saying go and support Wii U and WII or before all of a sudden ;)

If a Pro would mean ... hey we are on next gen again when it comes to ecosystem ... then it would have to start it's momentum all over again.

    Right? :D

True. At the end of the day, if they can't do backwards compatibility with a system 3 years old, then Nintendo is simply incompetent.

But then again, we've seen the situation with the current virtual console offerings on the Switch. It takes them a month to add NES and SNES games. And thats all we got. No N64, no GameBoy, no GameCube, no Wii and no WiiU. That really sums up Nintendo's competence at backwards compatibility.

For crying out loud, a freaking Sewing Machine could run Mario 64 in today's available technology, be it via emulation or not, but they can't offer it on the Switch.

    What an absolute joke.

Imagine when GameCube games will be available? The Playstation 8 and Xbox One XX + 2 will be out by the time that happens.

Hehehe yeah money wise it always makes sense sure. For example I have payed for A Link To The Past ... way too many times now.

But I really hope they keep the Switch 'cycle/life' going for quite some time. And keep expanding slowly but steadily on the Nintendo Switch Online collection. With NES, SNES, eventually GB / GBC / GBA and then N64.
They have soooooo much potential on that front with their rich gaming library. I don't expect Wii / Wii U to pop up there if I'm being honest. For Wii U we almost have everything mentionable ported. For Wii

And 'why' change anything about the 'nature' really?
They are the one and only hybrid console ... which is doing great. Even with players like Sony and Microsoft around.
Reports have shown 40% of people with a Playstation or Xbox even own a Nintendo Switch. That fact in itself is outright insane.

I say keep the moment of the Switch going ... but keep expanding it's possiblities when it comes to storage, power (both cpu, ram and storage) ... but for the love of gamers; don't make this a situation where it is ... hey new hardware new ecosystem every 3-4 years.

    Anyway enough of me rambling. If you ever want to check out how I feel / felt about that read this;

Exactly. You've said everything with this. What Nintendo should do, is do all they can to remove the Sony and Microsoft part from the whole equation.

What does Nintendo lack that these 40% of players (me included) look for and get from their competitors? AAA games.

What is required for Nintendo to supply AAA games? Power. Equal or better power than their competitors.

Then, and only then, will they hold a better share of the market and make their customers happy: When they can supply everything their consumers are looking for, without having to look for it elsewhere, like the current situation.

At the end of the day, me and many, many other people are not asking for 4K. We're not asking for beautiful graphics that rival the PS5. We're not asking for incredible performance.

We're asking for Monster Hunter World on the Switch. At 60 fps. At 1080p.

Can only run that on Low settings? Low settings it is. Far better than not having it. I'll take that if it means I can play it on the go. This applies to every single other AAA title out there, that players are desperatly crying out for.

    Alrighty. In that case:

The only way I give Nintendo another cent, is if a UFO crashed into my Swich Dock.

It needs to be ready for VR in HIGH resolutions and HIGH Frame Rate in order to be successful as VR is changing and I assume will be gaining a lot of attention in the next few months to come.

People claiming that it's going to be dock-only are only kidding themselves. Making a non-portable but powerful version of the Switch would go against everything the Switch stands for, literally NAMED for.

Just get a PC or Oculus Go/Quest for god's sake. Why do you need the Switch to do this?
