I've been a big fan of Square Enix since back when they were two separate companies, but I think many people just love to hate the games because of how successful the company has been over the years. Then again when you're so used to a company making great games people's expectations become too high and then they're disappointed even when the game is great. Being too open is a terrible excuse especially when they complained about it being too linear. I would rather a game be extremely open to where I could get lost then a game where I just mindlessly walk forward throughout.Well that's easier said than done.In my opinion, in order for Final Fantasy XV to be a success it needs a strong story, get rid of the linearity, needs more interesting characters, a ton more side quests, and needs a higher difficulty that would require me to grind a bit rather than just going with the flow.
One of the complaints about FFXIII-2 is being 'too open'.
Square Enix will never win but they'll keep making games anyway and I'll still love them.
