Rumblehax:

For those who were out of the loop on the last thread about Rumblehax, we are no longer able to view this due to it being removed by moderators. But in case you didn't see it at the time and are unable to judge it for yourself, OP's post was as follows:

Hello everybody!
Im here to present what Ive been working on, I call it Rumblehax.

Its basically Pokemon Rumble World loading a Homebrew Launcher payload on a 10.2-28U 2DS system.
Not released yet. It has a few bugs.

Proof of Concept: [VIDEO]

OP claimed to have a Homebrew Launcher entry point that functions on 10.2 using Pokemon Rumble World and his video consisted of extremely obvious jump cuts in which he launched Pokemon Rumble World and cut to the Homebrew Launcher starting.

After posting it, several replies pointed out the blatant flaws in the video and then OP edited his post to remove the video and claimed he was creating a new video that was more clear and didn't have the cuts. Because of the removal of the original video, some later users who didn't see the video questioned whether or not the exploit was real.

A short while later, the thread was deleted by moderators.

RCT23D:

For those who don't know, RCT23D is a supposed homebrew remake of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 for the 3DS posted by a now suspended GBATemp user. The thread is currently locked but is still viewable unlike the Rumblehax one and can be found here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/wip-rollercoaster-tycoon-2-3d.400011/

There was a reddit discussion about RCT23D and in the post, a redditor describes what happened in the original GBATemp thread:

Basically, from what I can gather, this guy posted his progress of a port of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 that he’s making for the 3DS. Then, he said this:
"A rough BETA version should be available tomorrow or perhaps the next day, it's coming along nicely- although it won't have audio at this stage. I will probably need to host it on a site like -REMOVED- or something, seeing as RollerCoaster Tycoon is a commercial game."
And saying this got him suspended because he was referencing a site where you can download ROMs, which is against GBATemp’s rules.
After this, a bunch of people all agreed that it was just a hoax and that the OP was trying to advertise a ROM site.
As well as the accusation of the OP trying to advertise the site because of what he wrote, people “confirmed” that the project was fake because the screenshots provided included an extra 12 pixels on the top screen. This was later stated to be due to the extra 12 pixels that appear when 3D is enabled, but yet people still agreed that the game was fake and requested for the thread to be deleted.
Unable to reply with his suspended account, the OP created a second account and gave reasons defending the accusations people had made, and then also posted a capture card video of the game.
Because he had created a second account, the second account was banned and the whole thread was locked so that nobody can post in it until OP’s original account’s suspension is lifted.
This whole situation really sucks as now OP probably won’t release the game until his suspension is lifted, unless he posts it on reddit or elsewhere. Hopefully we get to see the BETA soon.

EDIT: It has also been said that he was spamming the link in PMs, which led to his suspension, and that when he returned on his second account, he said someone else was doing that. Seems a little suspicious.

Some time after OP's second account was banned, he responded in the form of a comment left on the YouTube video he linked to showing capture card footage of RCT23D, in which he says:

Regarding the GBATemp situation:
To begin with, I did the wrong thing by not fully reading the site’s rules before creating a thread and posting in it. This was a mistake, as I did not realise posting certain websites would result in suspension.

When I saw that the name of the website was missing in one of my replies, I put it back so that the rest of my post made sense again. The second time it was removed, I realised that these edits were being performed by moderators, and I saw
[Moderator's Name] and clicked on it.
Slightly annoyed that my message wasn’t being displayed, I clicked on the PM button on
[Moderator's Name]’s profile to send him a PM, and wrote the site’s name as the subject of the message.
I began to write a message asking him what was going on, but I am quite a fussy writer and so I began rewording things and rewriting the message.
It was at this point that I left my computer, only to return about 15 minutes later to find that my younger brother had written me a new Facebook status on one tab, and that I was now suspended from GBATemp on the other.

With my account suspended, I’m unable to access anything on the GBATemp website now, so I still don’t know what was written in that message to
[Moderator's Name]. I assume however, that it’s something along the lines of spamming that website to him, as that is what [Moderator's Name] posted publicly in the original thread when he was giving reasons as to my suspension. My younger brother of course denies doing it.
After my original account’s suspension, a large number of users used the fact of my suspension as evidence for my project being fake and a hoax. People were requesting for the whole thread to be deleted or whatever, and this made me rather angry. I don’t want people accusing my work of being fake, especially without evidence. In truth, I want people to be excited about my new projects.
Annoyed at what was being said about it, I created a second account. I knew that creating a second account was against the rules, but I was pissed off at everyone saying that it was fake simply because they thought it was an advertisement for an illegal website. I didn’t even tell people to go on the website; I just referenced it in a sentence largely unrelated to the thread as a whole. Anyway, using the second account I posted the video you see here, and people rather quickly changed their minds about the supposed proof they had that it was fake.
Anyway, my second account got banned (until 2040, hah) due to suspension evasion. I knew that this would happen, I’m not stupid, I just needed to get this information out there any way that I could to put the accusations to rest.
As for the BETA release, if you don’t see it within the week, you’ll definitely see it by the time my original account returns to GBATemp (which is a month). I got no warning on that account by the way, just an outright, month-long ban…all well.

Thanks for reading this, I hope to see you testing the BETA soon. Hopefully this will give me some time to polish it up a bit for playing anyway. I have some other projects coming as well (although not as big as RCT23D), but 3DS users should have a lot to look forward too.

To my knowledge, nothing about RCT23D has been posted after this, but if you know anything please do share. He hints at the possibility that he will post the BETA somewhere else, and I would like to know if that happens.

I should also say that I'm not trying to cause drama with this post, I just genuinely want to know about projects like this and there's currently nowhere on GBATemp to discuss them. PLEASE don't make this thread about hating on any users or moderators!

Do you honestly think this will stay open?

I'm all for discussing it though, just saying.
I'm fairly new here although I've been lurking for years; why would it not stay open?

I see, do you have a reason for thinking this or is it just a hunch?
Sort of a hunch but until we get a demo or something im calling fake because anyone can Photoshop images and anyone can slowdown a recording and make a fake 3DS video with it using video editing tools. So for all we know Someone called make a video of Call Of Duty Blacks ops 3 running on 3DS

That's fair enough. I guess with that logic everything is fake until you've played it yourself.

Definitely don't believe in RCT2, as much as I'd like it to be true it has fake written all over it. The guy didn't seem to have any idea about what programming/porting something consists of, and the whole "my brother made a status on facebook and I was suspended on gbatemp" sounds like the type of excuse a twelve year old would make. And the video proves absolutely nothing - all he does is move the camera around a little bit, not even utilizing the bottom screen at all, and the only believable thing about it is that there are framedrops. As Ryu mentioned earlier, I could easily record a video of the HD/PC version of Sonic Generations, crop it, and copy and paste the start menu or something onto a 'bottom screen' to make it look real, and slow the framerate down in editing (or if I really wanted to try, actually have the game drop frames while recording) and make it look like I was playing it on a 3DS - but I'm sure no one would believe me anyways, because how could Generations HD be running on a 3DS? He didn't even go the extra mile of editing/faking an actual recording of a 3DS playing it, which would be much more believable (although I'd still debunk it just as easily). Also, not just anyone has a capture card - they cost hundreds of dollars, and unless you're a streamer or youtuber there's really no reason to spend $300 on a kit (around $500 if you buy a 3DS with one built in)

You make a lot of really good points. You mention that the video proves nothing, but is there anything in the video that proves that it is fake?

Also, if you're saying his excuse of someone else using his computer is a lie, in what way does that make RCT23D fake?

You make a lot of really good points about the evidence not proving it's real, but for me at least, I can't see any proof to believe that it's definitely fake like you say it is.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Haven't you got anything better to do?
They're both probably fake, who gives a shit...
Some people are interested. Haven't you got anything better to do other than post in things you're clearly not interested in?

I'm going to believe that DeDeDe did have RCT23D because even if it does sound ridiculous, I know firsthand that sometimes the ridiculous is truth.

As for the rumblehax, I did see the thread and wasn't able to view it due to the deletion, however it sounds fake.

I don't think anyone should be posting anything like that unless they have a release or demo available.

I thought of that after watching, but I wasn't logged in unfortunately. Based on the replies, I think about 5 other users watched it before he removed it. He removed it within minutes of posting it.

You would think if dedede was smart enough to make RTC3DS then he would be smart enough to read the rules for gbatemp.

Homebrew and warez are usually very close to each other, and given how blatantly flashcarts, backup loaders and the like are discussed on gbatemp outsiders may not understand that (that's the main reason why gbatemp isn't taken seriously btw, it's the exactly same issue elotrolado.net has)

With RCT23D, it looked real, until examining closer.
But with rumblehax, it was just guilty until proven innocent.
Until @LuigiBro releases his new video, I have no opinion on the matter.
But, come on. RCT23D is just impossible.
