Sometimes modders really improve the quality of life when it comes to bringing old games upto spec. What are your faves? I'll get it rolling with:
Earthbound (New Controls)
https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1111/
"Say goodbye to navigating several menus only to find that guy in front of you just farted. This patch brings more modern controls to a SNES classic!"
Totally improves the flow of the game and makes it a much more enjoyable experience when I replayed it last year.
Sonic CD ++
http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_CD_Plus_Plus
"Adding the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 style Spin Dash and the newer Homing Attack into the game. This enables the gameplay to be significantly speedier, while Sonic CD is known to be one of the more slow-paced games in the classic Sonic series."
This patch actually made this game way more tolerable than without as it adds a lot the experience by making it flow more instead of plodding around the badly laid out courses.
Super Ghouls'n Ghosts Restoration
https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3473/
"It also removes most of the slowdowns, making the game much more enjoyable to play as well."
Self explanatory and quite possibly proof that coders have been lazy/patch reliant since forever.
Yoshi's Island: Pacifier Edition
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2658/
"This is a simple hack that mutes Baby Mario’s crying and the timer countdown sound that normally plays when Yoshi is hit and loses Baby Mario."
Lot more fun without the whining, Louis.
Whatchu got? Also feel free to add in actual ROM hacks that totally redo a game if they're up to par with the original.
