Rockstar integrates fan-made loading fix in official GTA Online update; rewards creator with $10k

Grand_Theft_Auto_Online.jpg

Last month, we shared the news of an unofficial Bloodborne 60fps patch that was made public and now, another fan-made patch is making news for another game: GTA Online. Modder t0st created a fix that reduced the game's loading times by up to 70%. Rockstar also took notice of this fix and investigated it further.

"After a thorough investigation, we can confirm that player t0st did, in fact, reveal an aspect of the game code related to load times for the PC version of GTA Online that could be improved," the company told PCGamer. "As a result of these investigations, we have made some changes that will be implemented in a forthcoming title update."

After this statement, the fix's creator, t0st, said that they awarded $10,000 through Rockstar's Bug Bounty program.

The GTA Online update that includes this fix for loading issues is live as of today.

I mean, they just paid him because they have a bug bounty program and they literaly had no reason to not add this fix
It's still cool tho, but I see people giving kudos to Rockstar when it's all thanks to the guy who actually developed the fix lol

Tho let me have some doubt having « Rockstar having some heart » ... Not saying that they don't make good games tho

I mean, what makes the Vita version different from tht Wii one? More levels? New graphics? More fanservice!?
I have no idea tbh

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Googled it, and it's just newer graphics(they don't look that much better tbh), customizable controls(dolphin already gave me that) and 4 new characters, not the greatest, but if they do port muramusa, I'd rather they port the version with a few more features

Who knows, Vita3K might beat it to the punch there. How's that emulator coming along, anyways?

you still get a chance to play the game since it has an original release, i will never get to play resistance burning skies or uncharted golden abyss since they are vita exclusives :S

I would recommend people here to buy a Vita anyways :P
It has a lot of games, a great hacking scene, portability and good console quality, and can be found for cheap. Really, it's a fantastic handheld that can play 9 different GTA games ;)
It's also a good device for Moonlight.

I concur. My cousin just dropped my vita oled on the floor and now the screen doesn't work. It would be great if I can play this on my switch. I don't like playing on the TV.

Well that's very cool! Hopefully other companies follow suit. There's a lot of cool mods that actually improve stability and over gameplay in different games.

(nintendopleasereleasepapermariothousandyeardoorforswitchusingthefanmadeHDtexturepackandjustpaytheguy$10,000)
Super Paper Mario > Thousand-Year Door. The latter could be vastly improved by making the horrendously-boring Peach segments skippable, though.

But yeah, honestly surprised RockStar listened to and paid a modder for their work - I seem to remember them DMCA-ing a really popular mod-making tool a couple of years ago, due to "it could be used to unbalance our (heavily monetised) multiplayer scene". So I'm shocked this happened.
