So it seems Rockstar has made the decision to release both GTA I & II for free on their own website: http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/
Both versions have been updated to be usable with the latest Windows OS (remember, this from like.... 98 to ME Windows era?)
The only instruction is that you gotta sign up for their e-mail list. That means no proxies or long sign-up processes like when Burnout Paradise was for free here... Or, you just use Mailinator, I guess [IMG]
I remember playing GTA I in the good ol' PSOne days.... Ahhh, the memories!

So if you like retro games and particularly like GTA, here's a New Years/L8 X-mas gift for you.

(I wanted to make this thread like a successor to the Burnout Paradise FREE thread. Obviously, the demographic will be different here [IMG])

    Happy New Years, Tempers!!

If I'm not wrong they have been around for free since a couple of years...

The games have been free for years!

I already have them running on my netbook for random violence.

Guess I should've done my research [IMG]
I just noticed this because of my great liking of Rockstar and old games/platforms. I believe they had something similar for the old SimCity games, as well. [IMG]

In that case, I change my comment to: Meh, OLD!

I thought forums were for contributing? Especially the general discussion forums?
Not to get too defensive, but I searched this before posting like all good users should: No relevant results.

I don't think it has been posted, and no one said you were wrong for doing so.

    It's just old news.

Indeed, it's a great news for people who still don't know about it. [IMG]
I was just pointing out the fact that it's old, no that you did something bad. ^^

Alright. It's just that I have a strong belief in contribution to internet forums through new content. It's a form of a community, after all [IMG]

I was gonna say, yeah it's been like this for a while, but I guess you guys really hammered this one home.

I remember there being some kinda sign up for em though and I had a problem somewhere. Is it just a download now or is it still a free account type thing?

It was in the suggested list for the Essentials - Freeware topic. Ctrl+F (Grand Theft Auto) on the 'Suggested' list.
