I’ve spent days reading multiple threads and have yet to find a solid answer. I installed cIOS for 249-251 according to the wii guide. Then I followed the main guide for the dlc using wad2bin after pulling the info from xxyz (I believe that’s the name).

From what I’ve read there’s a cIOS issue that makes it so Rockband 3 doesn’t use the SD card slot. I’ve used multiple SD cards, and tried reformatting no matter what Rockband 3 gives me an unknown SD card error and doesn’t see the dlc I installed as the bogus wad.

Please read carefully the Instructions on the MarioCube Repository,it is very easy and very good explained.
(Even I finally got it now how it works.)🤣

You will find many more "Things" for Rockband,I am sure...😉

Good Luck
Thank you.😉

I have followed that guide exactly, besides for 2.1 as I am using a USB loader and not launching from the disc screen. I built the WADs properly using wad2bin, not using nullkey as it's RB3 DLC and not RB2 with the proper parent ID. I followed the finalizing step exactly as written including the uninstall before the install. No matter what though Rockband 3 does not access my SD card, even when I try to go into extras and have it access it I am given unknown error.

Then it is an USBLoader / cIOS Issue.
You should really try the Disc Loading Method.
The only other Way to get that SD Card Save working is to use an hermes cIOS in Slot 222/223 or 224 but that maybe makes other Troubles with Pheripherial if I remember correct....

My original post said I believe it to be a cIOS issue and I was looking for help in that regard. I will look into the hermes cIOS in use with my guitar hero controller. I have only done the base cIOS installs, dx2.

Had this Topic Years ago and found my Threads, maybe it also helps you:

https://gbatemp.net/threads/wii-rockband-3-fender-mustang-pro-guitar-controller.544059/

This maybe helps you for the hermes cIOS:

https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Rock_Guide

Additonal Chapter:
XFlak's Corrections

just a couple things that need correcting...
there are multiple cIOSs that work with these games now, they include the following:

-hermes-v4[37+38 ] (installed to slot 222 or 223, doesn't matter)... this is the cIOS that has been tried tested and true, but the other cIOSs below are faster (but may have compatibility issues that I have not yet discovered) -hermes-v5[37] (installed to slot 223 or 224) -wanins-v19[37] (installed to slot 249 and/or 250)

the one major thing I think ur guide is missing, is how to get pirated DLC to work (currently only works with the original/retail disc... I think). I don't know too much about this, but i think cioscorp + backup disc launching gets DLC working (just in case you 'misplaced' the retail disc)

Good Luck.:)

Same problem here as the above. I even tried running the retail disc with a fresh SD card format and get the SD card error. I tried two different cards with the same problem. I'm really quite frustrated. Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure what type of system you have (I have an RVL-101 and also followed the Wii Guide), but for my system, specifically for RB3, my microphones are not recognized when using slots 249 and 250. I have to use slot 251 (d2x-v10.52 base 38) for my microphones to work. When using this base, the game will not read the SD card, so I cannot use the DLC. At this point, I am content with not having the DLC. Supposedly, many of the RB games will recognize microphones with slot 250 (base 56), but I could not get it to work - I have another couple of posts discussing it. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the RVL-101 model, as others with RVL-001 models say that 250 works fine for them.

Hi everyone!
I tried different posibilities for the exactly same problem, and i finally found out a solution to this (have nothing to do with the model of the wii, i think). Are two (or one) missing files in the nand of the wii, specifically from the wii store called "shop.log" and "shopsetu.log", this files have to be inside the folders of the nand in this locations (you can use Wiixplorer to find out if they are on the NAND):

shared2/ec/shopsetu.log and shared2/succession/shop.log

If you don't have this files, you need to generate them in the places that i mention (just create an empty Notepad for every file and put them in the specific locations). I don't remember exactly how i did it, but it's like: generate and saving the files in the SD (from the PC), and then with "Wiixplorer" on the Wii, add those to the nand (enable first to add files on the nand from the config of the Wiixplorer).

The other way is to generate an emulated NAND from USB Loader GX, save it in the HDD or flashdrive, create the files on the PC and save it directly on the emulated nand (and then run the game from the emulated NAND).

Maybe are different ways to do this, but this two are the ones that i remember, that worked.

Please, be careful with these steps (consider this as an idea to solve the problem, and not as an step by step solution), i don't take any responsibility for any damage that this idea can make to your Wii.

Good luck!

P.S. Sorry for my english, it's not my first language.

It should work (only if u don't have both of this files already). I saw it in the Rock Band Custom Project, take a look there.

Hey thanks for the guide. I have similar problems with rb3 and sd card mode not working. The shop.log file is already in the right place for me. However, the shopsetu.log is missing. The entire ec folder did not exist. I was able to create this, but I couldn't copy a file into it. What could be the reason? I set the write permissions. I'm grateful for any feedback.
