I've got a Falcon board stored away. Never RROD or serviced (still have the original X-clamps).

    It's on

    D:2.0.16537.0 - K:2.0.16537.0 (BK:2.0.1888.0)

Do I need RGH/JTAG to play my backups? As a Collector, I care for the condition of my physical discs as well as my consoles.

How would I go about to get it RGH/JTAG?

What do I need (hardware) and where do I get it as cheap as possible?

Is there anyone in or near sweden that provides this service?

Would it perhaps be beter to just go with a X3Ky (or whatever it's called)? If yes, the same questions apply as above.

If you care about Live then get an Xkey.
Otherwise an Ace360 v3 and an LPT based dumper gets you a long way

    No need for Live.

Cool. Gonna check them out. :)

Edit: Should I go for V3 or V3 PRO?

Seems that Ace360's isn't recommended for phat models...? :(

Is there other, more easy-to-install solutions?

    The less resistors/soldering, the better.

    You'd need to solder regardless.
    Ace chips work fine.
You could also see if you can find an older Coolrunner of TX.

Soldering isn't that big of an issue, but less = better. :)

Ok, so what do I need except the chip then?

NAND-X, JR Programmer or a simple LPT based dumper.

LPT is slow, NAND-X is the best solution imho.
LPT you can make yourself with a old school printer cable and some diodes.

I can find Coolrunners in sweden. There's a few different versions tho.

    Which should I get?

Do I still need the JR Programmer? Can get those in sweden as well.

Coolrunner Rev B, Coolrunner 3, Coolrunner 3 XL, Coolrunner 4.
You could even go for R-JTAG if you'd want.
Can essentially pick, tho Falcons on RGH 2 are tricky, I did a few R-JTAG installs and it's better then RGH2 imho.
They do need to be programmed with a NAND-X or JR Programmer tho.
