You can always re-sell games on Ebay, Amazon, etc. If they're mint condition they can sell for full price on sites like Amazon. Or, if the game was generally considered "good", you can never open, wait a decade, and sell it for hundreds of dollars. A mint condition copy of Goldeneye 007, never opened, goes for hundreds of dollars, despite the fact 7 million copies of the game were sold. It's even better if it's a rare game like Ico, Psychonauts (which could easily become rare in a few years), or probably some Wii games that bombed but were awesome (I could easily see MadWorld being sold for a high price in mint condition in a decade).
As a general tip, try games before you buy 'em. Whether it's a video game rental service like GameFly or simply pirating them, it's better to try before you buy.
