Well, Canada surely could use another NHL team. God knows, Leafs tickets are among the most expensive in all the NHL, while the Leafs lose practically every game they play. I'd rather drive all the damn way to Quebec and support another team, rather than giving the Leafs more money that they'll just use to lose more games.
You know it's funny that the cities that lost their teams might be getting them back, but only because of growing pressure over the economic failures of a few southern expansion teams. The odds of either team from Florida, along with Nashville, Phoenix and Columbus are potentially on the block for being moved to Canada due to their financial failures, though if the league didn't have revenue sharing it would be a survival of the fittest deal where only the teams with all the fans would survive, not that it would be an issue because currently the only real teams struggling financially are the ones that would thrive and make loads of money up here in Canada. It's too bad Gary Bettman is so gungho on America yet he has failed on a number of occasions to fill his duties as the big boss, he has no real US television contract and most of the expansion teams created during his tenure have wound up being abysmal failures and even one that became a massive court battle for about a year and that was the Phoenix situation which is still being bitched about.
Bettman could have easily let RIM and Blackberry owner Jim Balsillie buy the Coyotes and move them to Hamilton, and Ontario is an underfed market in terms of how much money could be made off having another team right near Toronto. But no, he had to fight tooth and nail to get some poor ass fuckers to try and buy the team which in the end didn't work out because now there is talk of selling the team to one of the big rich Canadian families and moving the team back to it's rightful place in Winnipeg.
