Hacking Retroarch with Gambatte core unable to save settings/controls/SRAM etc.

So my problem is that every time I shut down Retroarch or restart my PSP, all settings for Retroarch revert back to default. My control remaps, setting configurations, and even my game's SRAM saves are gone. I've resorted to using only save states which do persist, but I still have to remap any hotkeys and controller inputs. I'm not sure what I need to do to fix this so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for looking.
