Tested this for sometime under latest Aroma, some feedback:

Generally usable, great work! Some (possible) bugs I noticed:

Pcsx_rearmed: 1. vibration does not work for both pro joystick and gamepad, even I switched to dualshock and enabled force feedback in core option, tested on FF IX and Raystorm. These two games can vibrate using WiiSXRX.
2. When saveing Core override settings it reported success but then Retroarch hungs. Need to long-press power 4 sec for a force reboot. 100% reproduceable, my roms are also on SD btw.

Fbneo: cannot get IGS roms to work, tried several Fbneo romsets... tested Demon Front, Knights of Valor Plus and several other roms. The same ROM can work on PC retroarch, strange...

Its not just Pcsx_Rearmed, vibration doesn't work at all on WiiU RA
I'm not sure about the Saving Core Override error.

Iirc, IGS roms were disabled on WiiU RA due to them not working correctly? graphic glitches and such.

by chance did you save core override after changing the audio sample rate? In my experience that's the only time retroarch hung when saving core override (when exiting RA actually). It still saved the override though, so I didn't have to do it again, upon loading the core my changes were there.

I did change the sampling rate for PS core as told because of the crap sound issue, but also changed other things like enabling cheats... you mean if sampling rate is changed it will hung? My experience is Retro hung IMMEDIATELY after posting "saving successful", not while exiting.

It seems to be the case. Until it's fixed, what you can do to avoid the error is first make the core overrides with all the configuration you need except the audio ones, then go edit the cfg file manually and add the following two lines:

audio_driver = "AX Pro"
audio_out_rate = "44000"

(44000 for the PS core; 32040 for the SNES core)

Hey guys BIG announcement time lol

The Aroma Port that has been in limbo for the last year due to the issue with slow Core loading/Rom loading has been fixed thanks to a new Aroma CFW update :D :D :D
This means Retroarch on Aroma is now back on the table! I tried a bunch of the Core's I compiled last year and they seem to run fine and Core swap as they're supposed to. heh :)

Downside is Core's that require Jit such as PS1 and Picodrive will have to be reworked to work properly with Aroma but the rest should work fine :D

Vid of Aroma RA in action...

Here's a full Retroarch package with Cores and a Retroarch wuhb file so you can have a Retroarch icon to launch from the Home Menu!

Don't mix Tiramisu Retroarch Cores with Aroma ones and don't attempt to update your Cores through Retroarch... Your asking for trouble if you do ;)
Best to rename your current Retroarch folder if you have one, the link I've posted has the Retroarch folder all setup so its just a straight extract to SD root, insert sd, load Aroma then load the Retroarch icon (white instead of black) :P

Try it and post any issues you have and remember this is a test build ;)

EDIT: Thanks to the work of @Vague Rant we now have working Pcsxreamed and Picodrive Aroma Cores!!! (included in the link)

EDIT2: If your getting audio issues with the PS1 Core do this:
Go into the RA Settings and change the Audio Driver to Axpro
Change the audio Sample Rate to 44100
Load a PS1 game and save a Core Override (in the In-Game Menu) this will save you having to keep changing the Audio Driver/Sample Rate everytime ;)
Audio issues should be fixed!

Hello. Thank you for this. It works very well in my testing. Do you think you could please add the aroma core for the nooDS NDS emulator for wii u? It is at this repo: https ://github.com/jonian/libretro-noods

Is there a possibility to share the same save state for a game across different devices including the wii u and for example pc or android?

Anyone knows where and how do I get Retroarch for Aroma?

Maybe I'm just too stupid and can't read well enough, but there's nothing about that in the OP.

I already downloaded latest Retroarch_rpx package from retroarch website.

I already updated Aroma to latest everything.

I try running retroarch.rpx or RetroArch Launcher (which I downloaded from this thread's OP) and both just hang with the boot sound on loop without end.

What am I doing wrong?

Got it. Thanks. Any way to change the Audio output sample rate from config file? I can't set it from the GUI because it gets crazy while moving left/right.

I think that may be a bug with the current release, I tried it and I can select any sample rate, but the output rate still shows 48000hz no matter what I choose. I'm not sure if changing it in the config file will work but you could give it a try, just change
audio_out_rate from 48000 to whatever sample rate you want.

Nevermind. I just had to press A instead to moving sides.

I have spent the last hour getting in and out of bed having to reboot the console after countless black screen freezes trying to get this to do anything.

Plus now my home screen is all cluttered because all of the cores show as their own apps, yet all just take you to RetroArch.

Tiramisu should be forgotten and Aroma should take priority. It's like focusing on supporting Windows XP when Windows 11 is out. Plus most of the information in the OP still isn't up to speed on Aroma, like how Homebrew Launcher is not needed anymore as Aroma does its functions natively.

NUSSpli lets you download anything you want for free straight from Nintendo's own servers (that you should be paying for), and I think I'm just gonna stick with that virtual console for the Wii U... This is too complicated. Miss the days of the Wii where you just plop Wii64 in a folder and you're good to go without the 10000 systems you will never play. Just was hoping for a reason to not have to boot into vWii anymore

Even set RetroArch up on a Amazon Fire Stick and it was easier than this.

Ok, here's my build with the corresponding "scummvm.zip" extracted in place. It's master from couple of months ago, using RA Aroma threads (rather than libco) and new audio driver AXPro.
Theme works when the included "theme" and "extra" directories are used with provided .rpx binaries.
Using Quit from ScummVM launcher will quit to Home menu.
Close Content returns to RA menu without core started.
Please select the new audio driver, set the sample rate to 44100 in audio driver options and also in Core options after scummvm core is started. Your MT32 roms should be placed in "extra" directory when needed.
It also includes an experimental build supporting optimized Blade Runner, Grim Fandango and AGS 32 bpp engines. It's in a zip file, needs to be extracted in place in order to be used.
Hi, when i copy the core files to my sd-card retroarch won't start anymore. Even after i delete the core files it won't start. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Edit:
Never mind, i think i found out how to install it.
