Is anybody else getting no sound out of retroarch 1.7.8 on a n2ds xl? Every other emulator and game works just fine.
im getting it? in some games u may need XA Decoding ON if thats off

in drivers make sure audio resampler = nearest and audio is not null

else delete retroarch.cfg and retroarch core options.cfg - maybe uve fucked smth up in ur .cfgs

thats the only reason i could think of?

make sure the roms are not corrupted/bad dump (e.g try a different copy of it)

if those dont work delete retroarch and pcsx thru datamangment and the retroarch folder if this doesnt work and use the latest nightly (1.7.9 MUCH MUCH BETTER PS1 PERFORMANCE so no reason not to upgrade)

Getting an arm11 exception error when booting CHD files of MegaMan X4 and X5 (X6 untested).
MegaMan 8 plays perfect, aside from the FMVs.
Disc 4 of Final Fantasy VII International also runs great, but lags when it loads something, or if there's lots of 3D polys on screen.

They should work but I can test them as well. I already tried Megaman X3, which runs but cdda music is absent, and X6 runs very well.

Tested Megaman X4 and its running perfectly aside from fmvs as well, but turning V-sync off resolves the problem, also getting some random crashes

idk what cdda music is im guessing is the soundtrack so turn XA decoding on and if that doesnt work put CD Audio on too

The correct term I should have used might have been Redbook Audio. Basically it's the same problem as Rayman and other games have - You don't get the background music for some reason. One solution might be to convert the audio to .wav and make a .cue sheet for it. This works for epsxe for example. Problem is that you'd lose the speed boost you'd get from using .pbp or .chd. Don't know if those are able to convert the .wav as well.

Is CHD format superior to PBP? I have all the games in PBP. Most of them very small size.

I'm also wondering what the general settings are one has to manually set so we are getting the best performance in general. For example v-sync off.

In addition, it is still unclear to me if it's sufficient to install the stand-alone CIA, instead of the whole retroarch package. Is it true that the UNAI part will only be installed with the whole package?

One thing I found is that PBP seems to do lossy compression of CD tracks while CHD is lossless. Otherwise its not clear to me the effective difference.

So I tried Pepsiman and the music is not playing, I suppose that is expected, but other emulators run it very well, Android included. I tested it in chd and in .cue, both play sound fine in ePSXe for example.

What settings do you have?

allright, sorry for the delay:

the game runs perfectly smooth, even the FMV's, the music lack is the only problem, SFX plays fine, as well as the FMV's audios.

Frameskip: 0
Use BIOS: Auto (I'm using the "PSP 6.6 optimized" dump)
Region: auto
Enable Second Memory: Off
Enable Dithering: On
Dynarec: On
PSX CPU Clock: 50
Frame Duping: On
Advanced Unai Settings On
Enable Blending: On
Enable Lighting: On
Enable Fast Light: On
Enable Forced Interlace: Off
Enable Pixel Skip: On
Show BIOS Bootlogo: On
Sound Reberb: Off
Sound Interpolation: simple
Every specific game Fix is dissabled
XA Decoding: On
CD Audio: On
Dissable SMC Checks: On
Assume GTE Regs Unneded: On
Dissable GTE Flags: On

I also have Async sound and nearest sound driver.
