Ok so earlier today I snapped some quick photos with my phone of what Gamecube looks like on my TV, for another GBAtemper who was asking me some questions via pm about upscalers, output mods for several consoles, composite/s-video/component/rgb/hdmi .... that kind of stuff. And then I thought, why just share them with only that guy, why not share them with the whole board? Maybe others will join in and post their own photos too!

But I wasn't thinking that when I took these shots, so they're not well done. I was just sitting on the sofa across the room where I sit to play, holding the phone with one hand, had the lights turned off and couldn't really see the phone well or whether I had the whole display in-frame, etc. But these shits still look good, so I'm gonna postem anyways.

If this thread takes off and you share some shots, please describe the TV, the console, any mods done to improve the output, and any peripheral hardware used like upscalers or cables.

THIS IS NOT FOR EMULATION SCREENCAPS OR IMAGES TAKEN WITH A CAPTURE DEVICE! Use your phone or a digital camera, and take a photo of your TV screen displaying signal from real hardware. Use a tripod or whatever if you want to do a better job of "framing" than I did (and like I might do if I post more to this thread).

Approx 10yr old Sony 55" Android TV.

Well, it has been a week and 230+ views, and nobody added to the thread. Kinda disappointed. I thought it was a good idea - was especially interested in seeing if anyone would share shots from their old CRT's or PVM's. I've seen similar threads on shmups before for example - but I guess nobody here is interested.

I have most of my old consoles connected to a 32" Trinitron TV, but the TV either needs service or a tune from someone skilled at doing so.
I'm not against showing images or even taking requests for screenshots of specific games if the state of the TV doesn't make it pointless to bother. I just assumed high quality results were the point, unless I'm mistaken?

The systems I have connected to it via Composite or S-Video are:
AV Famicom
SNES Jr.
N64
Gamecube
PC Engine Core Grafx III (can play PCE-CD games thru it)
PlayStation 1 (could do PSOne as well as it's handy)
Genesis Model 1 (can play Master System & Sega CD thru it)
Saturn
Dreamcast

I also have a consolized MV-1C with a retrotink RGB2COMP converter to the TVs Component Input.

All systems have either a flashcart or ODE aside from the PSOne so I could theoretically provide shots of almost any game - if an imperfect image on my TV isn't an issue.

EDIT: I also have a PlayStation 1 and a Wii with internal HDMI mods I installed that would let me share images of games from those systems on an OLED as well.

Good luck. I had a 27" Trinitron in use for several years, but over time one of the corners went dim and the picture in the area was warped. I gave up on CRT and went to the upscaler when we bought a newer TV to replace our old 55" Sony (which I inherited for my game setup). Some systems hook up directly, the Gamecube uses a Retro-bit Prism for HDMI output, the Wii uses component cables, and the Wii U has HDMI of course. Also I now use a Super NT for SNES and it has HDMI too.

Post any shots you like. Yeah the idea was to show off how retro real hardware can look amazing with good setup, but FWIW I always thought S-video does a fine job on a CRT and in fact I still use S-video for my N64 but I do run it through the Framemeister at 720p.

I very much enjoyed reading your post. I wish large TVs still had component, but nonetheless I will be trying to get the morph 4k and trying to put HDMI in everything

Would you mind sharing comparisons of the wii component output vs the hdmi output

Unfortunately, my flatscreen only has HDMI inputs, so I can't compare like for like... If you did want CRT Component vs Flatscreen HDMI, i'd have to see if I can find my component cable in my "spare parts" bins. I've exclusively used HDMI on my Wii since I installed the WiiDual many years ago.

The Wii Dual is your 480p image being run thru a sscalar, does the tv scale it? Are you getting a retrotink 4k or morph 4k?

Yes, the WiiDual provides a clean 480p image to my TV's internal scaler, currently.
I do plan to get a Tink 4k eventually, but I'm a bit biased towards tink products, owning a 2x, 2x Pro, RGB2COMP and two tink 5k Pros already. In my (admittedly biased) opinion, the tink 4k is a better product than the morph. I also hope to get a ViperMS scalable switch for all the inputs to both my CRT and Tink 4k when that comes out eventually so I can get rid of my current stack of Pelican System Selector Pro 2.0 switches.

running BLOOD E1M1 -> E2M5 in a row. So far no crashes, no graphical glitches. Required reduced code size (removing some "features" NBlood added throughout all the years) and changing memory region sizes. I'm finally going to remove (disable) everything regarding code that is absolutely unneccessary for the main game to run.
