Hacking Restoring 3DS NAND Backup after System Transfer?

Hello.
I was wondering if it's possible to restore a 3DS NAND backup after a system transfer in order to keep all my saves, images, and other stuff on both 3DS's (with the exception of the NNID). I did this on my Wii after a Wii to Wii U transfer and it worked perfectly and was just wondering if it would work on the 3DS as well.

yeah it works, but from what i have read, it will delete all the content on the original console if it gets connected to the internet

Really? That's interesting...
One other question: is it possible to replace a 3DS's motherboard with another so as to put one 3DS into another's shell?

OK, cool. I figured, but I just wanted to make sure.
One last thing: does the system transfer tool work with the latest Gateway emuNAND or will I have to follow this tutorial?
